I was Scammed

Thanks every one, I am starting to feel better. Nat I did call the police, and they told me that because I hadn't given them any money, that was a good thing, but there was nothing they could do, unless I had, the police officer did give me the phone number of the Fraud Squad reporting centre and I told them the story, and took my information. They told me that this was a common scam called the Grandma or Grandparents Scam. I gave them the phone number that the man had given me, and they asked if they could share the information with police, which I said yes. She said a report would be made and if they find any information, they will call me back.

Og good news good for you . Take it easy for few days Monica , i can not imagine the shock a call like that would give so go slow for a bit eh my friend .

I find it incredible to find scammers going through great lengths to scam unsuspecting people. This is just awful.

First thank you for sharing, giving us a heads up on yet another scam. Very sorry for all the havoc and health issues created, hope you are feeling better. Second a family plan sounds like a great idea and if there is any kind of positive I bet that hug you shared with your daughter was more than a usual hug with so much love transferring between you two.

I think having some kind of code/plan between family members is a great idea,considering all the scammers that are multiplying these days. Also a good thing that you did not give a credit card number in the stress of it all. So thankful that ALL of you are okay.

There are some really wicked people in this world. They have no conscience and don't care what damage they might do. Thank goodness you and the rest of your family are OK. What an awful scare.

You did the right thing calling the police/fraud division. I believe in karma and this guy will get his. Hopefully, you will see him on the news doing the perp walk (handcuffed escorted by police and going to jail). P.S. you should change the title of the thread to I was almost scammed.

Thank You, yes I'm fine now, and thankful my daughter is okay. I am blessed with my family and hold them a little closer this week. I can't change the title, you can only edit your post, but not the title.
