Or would it be better to say "Happy Anniversary"?
Did you know that 5 years ago today EBN became an official forum? Yes...January 29th 2010 English Bulldog News was born.
Lisa had plans on writing her yearly birthday/anniversary sentiments as she does every year. This year will be a little different. Lisa had a little bit of a "Walker"
incident and is currently on the mend. (I can now edit my post and let you know, since she did post on FB, Lisa is having surgery today after a horrific tangle with an ice tea glass. She cut her wrist/arm pretty bad, severed part of a tendon and an artery. Surgery today is to repair the damage and hopefully help her gain the feeling back in her pinky and part of her hand. The photos look like they were taken right off the set of The Walking Dead) She is down to one finger typing and (just trust me on this) it's a jumbled mess. So I thought.... Why not have the members of EBN tell Lisa why we are thankful for this very day, 5 years ago?
Here is what Lisa wrote last year on the 4th anniversary.
"Almost 4 years ago, after 3 days of trying to figure out how to get our forum idea online (I swear my eyes were almost bleeding trying to figure it out!), EBN was officially "online" on January 29th, 2010. We wanted to open a forum about our biggest love in the world, English Bulldogs. It was a blue blank canvas of a forum, the only official members were ourselves and a few friends who signed up just to be nice.
Thinking back to that day 4 years ago, I would have never dreamed English Bulldog News would be where it is today. Such awesome people who all have one thing in common-- the love of our breed-- and together, making such a huge difference in each others' lives. It is so amazing!
Back then, I thought I was so educated on the English Bulldog breed, but boy oh boy was I wrong! 4 years of reading and learning from the other English Bulldog owners everyday has helped my bulldogs in so many ways. I am grateful to the members who take their valuable time out each day to lend a helping hand, share a laugh and give support. Each day I swear I read something new, and never end a day without feeling something.... love, admiration, loss, heartbreak, achievement.... but most of all, proud of the members here.... there are so many different feelings and emotions, and I can only think of how empty life would be without EBN.
On that January day in 2010, if you would have told me that within 4 years we would have over 10,000 members, we would be doing Auctions for Rescue, fundraisers to help bulldogs in need, monthly Hospice Sponsorships, fun contests and events, and most of all bringing together thousands of owners with advice, as well as sharing virtual friendships unlike any other....
...well I would have thought you were.... completely crazy!
EBN would not be what it is without it's wonderful members who selflessly give their words to the site each day. Every member here should be so proud of what you do here, whether you have posted once or 1,000 times.... your post could help someone else someday!"
Now at 5 years, we are still going strong. It's amazing how each year we still are learning new things about this wonderful breed. With each new member...we gain new experiences.
I would really love if you would share some of your fondest memories of EBN with Lisa.
This past year we've been through so much together. We've bonded together to help one another in our deepest time of need. We've had happy times and sad time. We've brought new members into our families and we've had to say goodbye to some of our most loved furkids.
Thank you so much for being a part of EBN.
