Help Needed! My puppy is limping

We feed her with Acana food for puppies and we add salmon oil once a day.She eats 100gr -3 times per day.Also we give her orijen treats with lamb- 5/6 pieces per day as a reward.but you stop the treats for a week now because we are worried for her weight.

Regarding the lamb part, you mean fresh lamb cubes with the treats? 100r 3x per day is less than a pound as 454gr is a pound. So 300gr per day of Acana is fine. What are the calories of the orijen treats? Orijen n Acana (same company)is one of the top quality of food you can give to a dog but orijen is much higer in calories. Keep an eye out on them treats. If it’s 5-6 pieces of lamb cubes/pieces also keep an eye out as both are very rich for everyday treats. Great treats but give 1/2 of it. Get her to eat a few fresh frozen green beans as snacks. Rotate the snacks.

By the way, is that a flea collar around her neck? If so get rid of that, them collars are made with pesticides!!!

We afraid kala azar mostly because when we go to our vet and talk with other dog owners ,some of them have problems with kala azsar that trouble their pets.
I have read some articles that refer to more natural ways to have the same protection but I dont know if that are enough.

As most knows I’m for the holistic way. I do a mix for both my dogs and it absolutely works 100% as I do go for walks in the Rockies where there are ticks n fleas n mosquitos.....Canada does have lots of them 3 little buggers. Some members have tried it and they swear by it to.

FOr ticks/fleas/mosquitoes

14 oz of Witch Hazel
12 drops of Lavender
15 drops of Citronella
15 drops of Lemongrass

Put all in a spray bottle and shake.

Also you can add pure lavender or eucalyptus lemon oil on top (outside) the collar.
People thinks..”what can a nice smelling oil do”...it actually burns their little receptors.

We finally went to an orthopedic phycisian.he did x-rays at kyla to see that is the real problem.
The news are bad.The xrays show that kyla has symptoms of dysplasia at two hinder legs.The bones at her shoulders grow more then normal.The worse part and the most concerning is that the doctor said that her bones aren't grow at the edges as normal but kyla's bones grow also at the midle and that is extremly painful.
Then we went back to our vet to show him the test and said that the growing of bones stop in same point as kyla grow up and those points in the bones will close.
Sorry for my english.I want your opinion if you had a similar problem as you have a big experience with eb.
I am depressed with all that and angry because the first thing the doctor said to us is why did you buy an eb,if we know that eb have problems.we love our dog and we will do everything to have a happy and normal life without pains.

so very sorry for this news... your heart must be crushed! Are there any options for her and are they available to you? have no experience but others may have some insight to help you.

Hip dysplasia is not unheard of in puppies. My girl Zoey was nearly lame by 1.5 years...hips were awful. She had FHO surgery before age 2 and was walking nearly pain free within hours. There is literally no recovery time for the joint, only the incision. FHO essentially turns the hip joint into a shoulder joint...it just floats and the muscles keep the end of the femur from contacting the pelvis.
Concerning the bone growth of front legs...this may be something that your pup grows out of. I certainly hope so. In the mean time...this link may provide some relevant info...
Additionally, it might be a good practice to use a regular collar instead of a harness. Harnesses put pressure on the shoulders when a dog pulls against it.

We went to another doctor yesterday.He is the only doctor in athens who do orthopedic surgeries to dogs. He did xrays to kyla for second time.he was looking rhe xrays for an hour.
Finally,he said to us that kyla's hips have signs of dysplasia but is very common for a eb and all of them have.he saw a line in xrays at the bone in her right front leg that he said must find if that is the reason kyla limping because he cant find anything that can explain the limp.
The odd thing is that kyla started limping at the left leg.so he suggested us to continue medication and supplaments for her bones and watch her to understand which leg hurt her.if the limp continues ,we must do axial xrays to find if she needs surgery.
We relieved that the things arent so bad and find a doctor who love dogs and explain us everything.
Something more,I want your opinion because he told us to take adult food with less protein even if kyla os 5,5 months.I bought acana again but for adult dogs https://acana.com/our-foods/dog-foods/classics/wild-coast/ .

Thank you a lot for your reply and the info.I am happy that zoey is now ok and have no pain and left behind all that bad memories.
I buy that harness for better because I thought that collar would be uncomfortable and dont let her breathe.I search for another if that is not good.

Good evening to all.
I would like your help if someone had a similar experience with his dog because I'm very nervous.
We have a 5-month English bulldog, Kyla. She started two weeks ago just to limp on her right front leg usually when she got up from the sleeping and generally after resting. Generally, she shows she has a lot of energy and plays all the time. We went to our vet and he looked at her and said that she did not seem to have anything.and finally he gave us her a medicine loxitan for five days and suggested rest. We did the treatment but kyla had a small improvement. After a week we went back and gave us 10 pils as supplement for her bones.yesterday,kyla couldn't get up with her both front legs.
She is a very good doctor and we trust him, but I think we better go to an orthopedic. He told us she is too young to have a dysplasia. Even if we go for tests for dysplasia, the tsests will still show nothing.
Sorry for this long text but it is our first dog and we are terrified .

Might not be much help, but our Lola had a limp when she was this age after resting
or playing and our bulldog specialist put it down to growing pains.

We changed her diet and controlled her hyperactive playing and she has been fine ever simce.
She was on puppy food with lots of things to help with growth and our specialist suggested moving her to the adult diet. In my eyes it helped.

I thought it was because she had a dead leg from sleeping funny

Switching to adult food is believed to, i think, slow the bone growth .. i have to look it up but i tag a few people that might know
