Mabel's skin issues

We have been fighting Mabel's fungal infection since we got her a year and a half ago. These two photos show the progress. The one in the left was taken several months after we got her and had been treating the skin. The one on the right was taken tonight. I am so excited about the progress and love that cute little belly!

It amazes me how quickly it is changing. I am using Mal-a-Ket wipes and Gold Bond medicated powder. The wipes still have black on them when I finish cleaning the area, so I know I am making progress.

WOW Chris, that is amazing!!! Why do you think Mabel's skin got that way in the first place?!!

Neglect mostly. The person who abused this little sweetie for breeding left her outside in the heat in the summer. The poor thing probably tried to find any moisture she could to stay cool. Who knows? It may have been bad before she was locked out because of aggressiveness. She probably wasn't aggressive, but horribly uncomfortable. The woman should not be allowed to have bulldogs! Or any dogs!

I think it's called Malassezia. But I'm not sure. I've looked through our papers from the vet, but he didn't say what it was--just what we need to do to treat it.
