Allergies, I don’t know what to do anymore

So I used the Nustock on his wrinkles, I applied it three times every 3 days, I have attached a pic of what it looks like now. He was also finishing a dose of ketoconazole at the time as well, so I’m not sure which one helped. It looks so much better all the hair inside the wrinkles have grown back and there is no more thick crusts peeling off. He has been eating a raw turkey diet for a couple weeks now and his itching has gone down a lot. However he had some upset stomach now. He has been throwing up bile for the past two days. He also seems to get an upset stomach only at night since starting raw, he will sit up in his bed and keep swallowing and licking.
So glad to hear Rico is doing better! It has been my Experience that Vomiting Bile, along with Swallowing and Licking can be a Sign of Doggie Acid Reflux... but the experts might have more insight @oscarmayer @2BullyMama @helsonwheels

Try feeding 3 smaller meals per day and see if that helps...the last meal right before bedtime. Otherwise, Pepcid may be in order as it seems he's overproducing acid. It could be the turkey you are feeding but if his itching is subsiding, I'd keep feeding it and address the symptom. Once he's all healed up, then you can experiment a little with alternative proteins. He does look way better in a short 4 weeks. Bost his immune system with fresh(refrigerated) sauerkraut. He'll love it!

You mentioned “only at night since starting raw, he will sit up in his bed and keep swallowing and lickin”

Jake does that only after his supper. Like regurgitating n trying to keep his food down. Last about 3mins. No vomit/bile. Jake inhales his food. Why he has a slow feeder as a bowl. All 3 dogs gets an apple split in 3 as a morning snack, then beef strips as a noon snack n no issues. Chip is right, split the main meal into 3 portions, see how that goes n don’t remove the turkey if his itching has gone down. Slowly the meds will leave the body n if the itching still going it’s not the turkey. If you remove, change, add etc, it will confuse you n you’ll end up starting over. You know the itching has gone down, so wait n monitor the next couple weeks.

Btw, Compared them 2 photos, what a difference in his face. Nice!

And yes NuStock regrows hair.

So I have split his meals into 3 portions and give him one before bed but it hasn’t changed. He is up every night licking, swallowing and drooling. This morning it was so bad he was shivering while drooling. This only happens to him while eating raw. In the past when we tried raw he would actually vomit it all up every night so we stopped. I feel so bad for him. I don’t want to keep giving him meds. I’m afraid to go back to kibble and his itching gets worse becaUse I have seen some improvement there, tho he will still try to scratch, it isn’t half as often as before. I just don’t want to keep giving him raw if now his tummy is going to be upset every night when it wasn’t on kibble. Poor thing doesn’t get a good sleep. He is playful and his happy self in the day so I don’t think he is sick or has pancreatitis, I had a pug before who had that and Rico isn’t showing any of those signs. I’m so frustrated and tired. What is left for me to do? Giving him reflux meds just to keep him on raw, I don’t want to do that.

When he was on kibbles, did you do a transition? Usually you don’t need to when it’s going straight to raw but you dog might have a sensitive digestion. Have you tried organic BONE broth? That will cure a lot of organs, stomach lining, ulcers, fatty tissues etc.

Also another thing to consider is cook meals.

Yes I did do a transition or else he would vomit.

Just wanted to give an update on Rico. He has been eating raw for about 2 months now. He has tried turkey and I have recently tried duck with no issues. He is eating a 80/10/10 mix meat, bone, organ. I was wondering if I need to add anything to that to make it complete. I hear so many different opinions. I heard to add kelp powder from the supplier and other people. I just want to make sure he doesn’t become deficient in anything, and that he gets all the nutrients he needs. His skin is so much better, no more flaky crusts, his itching has subsided significantly, but not fully. I have also learned that he is definitely allergic to flaxseed, I had suspected this from it being a common ingredient in many foods he has tried, so I tested it again and he instantly got the crusty, itchy face back. I cleared it up with the Nustock and he has been ok since. Flaxseed is in a lot of foods here.

If he is getting 80/10/10.. that is balanced. Any other additions would be optional to help joints or immune system…

Excellent news. Please share some pics with us EBN people.

Hi I am at a complete loss here. My boy has been struggling with allergies for 4 years now. He is 5. It all started when my pug passed away, his best bud. He was eating Acana singles duck at the time and then they switched the formula and added sweet potatoes, he started going downhill from there. He was constantly itching and licking his paws. Shaking his head and getting ear infections, and infections on his skin and especially his wrinkles. He even gave himself a horrible eye ulcer from pawing at his eye and rubbing it against the corner of the staircase. He required a surgery when they scratch the eye surface in order for the ulcer to heal because it wasn’t healing and the vet stitched it closed so it would help with healing. It was awful. He also keeps getting paw cysts. He has been living in a cone for 3 years now because he scratches so violently. I feel like I have tried everything and I am losing hope. I hate seeing his quality of life go down like this. He is suffering. I have tried many things over the years with no relief. He has had 2 rounds of antibiotics for bacterial skin infections, and a round of ketoconazole pills for yeast infection. He has had many ear infection meds such as otomax and otozole, at least 4 times within the 3 years. I have tried Reactine, Benadryl, and Cytopoint and they have done nothing. The vet keeps telling me that if we don’t treat the allergies he will always get these secondary infections. I have tried natural remedies as well, I tried colostrum, bee pollen, probiotics, and I had him on a raw diet and went through different proteins, giving each one 3 months to adjust and nothing has changed. He just remains the same no matter what. I have tried every brand of high end kibble available in Canada and given them plenty of time to adjust and nothing. Even zignature food. He is just breaking my heart. I love him so much and would do anything for him and I feel like I am just failing him. In the last 2 years alone I have spent thousands of dollars on tests for him and meds. He is still not any better. I had allergy tests done both at home and at the vet, and even avoiding the things that showed up on the tests didn’t help, so I don’t think they are that reliable. The stress is killing me and I am so heartbroken watching my baby suffer. The only thing I haven’t tried is apoquel because of all the horror stories, but it may be my last and only option, what else can I do, I just want to see him happy, healthy and free from this miserable itching and recurring infections, and free from a cone for once. The attached photo is a current infection that he is being treated for. He had a culture of his skin and the vet prescribed zenequin and ketoconazole, which he is currently taking. They said it was a resistant strain of bacteria on his face and then they gave us ketoconazole for yeast infection as well. I feel so bad for him. Sorry for such a long rant, I’m just lost, thanks for reading.
I find the allergy shots by the dermatology works well for Bella. We give her a shot every 10 days and its been working well. Maybe you can check into giving him allergy shots for the allergies. I am so sorry to hear that he is suffering.

The immunotherapy shots changed Chumly's life!

I know it has been mentioned before in this thread but apoquel helped with my previous Bulldog’s allergies. Should have gone to the source like you did instead of just masking the problem. Maybe the answer I’d a combination of both.

Like mentioned, 80/10/10 Is already balanced out for you. For the skin allergies, I personally would wait. You just started 80/10/10 and seems to be working with the skin allergies. Don’t bombard him with all sorts or you’ll lose track. Do your steps. I know some members like their shots and it’s totally their right. As most know me I don’t go that route. I’ve never given any shots as it’s basically chemicals. I use essential oils I make with fractionated coconut oil. Monitor him cause he looks to be going in the right direction 👍

For them extras, that too, wait. Give it a couple more months, if he’s still doing great, add a raw egg as a snack or boil.

Great Updates‼️
