Kevin is a HOT MESS!!

Thank you for your help! He is still very itchy and licking his paws. Hopefully soon we will get it under control. Tomorrow I am getting some dust mite covers for his beds too
You can always put the beds in a plastic garbage bag for a few days to suffocate them. Then pas tha vacuum on the beds. Also spray their beds with a mixture of:

4oz of witch hazel
15 drops of lavender
10 drops of lemongrass
10 drops of tea tree

Shake vigorously n spray bed. Also heā€™ll get some mixture on him which is fine. Keeps bugs off.

He wasnā€™t allergic to any protein? Did you get Dust mite covers? That was suggested to me. I am switching him to a beef diet that will just be beef, organ and bone. He had all the issues before switching him to the hydrolyzed food, but I didnā€™t realize the raw we were giving him had veggies in too. I donā€™t even know if we have a dermatologist in town for animals. I still need to get some pre and probiotics for him but hopefully we can start to manage it. Although, I am not sure about next summer if itā€™s like hayfever or something.
Proteins actually weren't high on his list at all, which was interesting since that's what they tell you. HIs biggest allergies were cats, (we don't have one), dust mites, the yeast on his skin (?) and apples. The apple one has a list of other allergens that are associated with it though (carrots, strawberries, soy, nuts, celery) so we are just avoiding all of them. If Kevin has had beef before, I would try a novel protein this time around - something he has never had before. That was why I chose the Bison and Venison food. Tigger's skin is rapidly clearing up this week and his paws have shown definite improvement.
We are freezing his kibble, and just pulling out a bag at a time to feed him with, so hopefully that helps with dust mites. I also clean his blankets and carpet regularly. I wasn't aware of dust mite covers for his bed but will check those out. Right now we are just waiting for the vet to get back with us about starting the allergy shots. Good luck with Kevin!

Hi Everyone, my name is Connie, I'm new here and have an English Bulldog named Kevin. Currently he is a hot mess!
We have been trying to heal him for a couple years now I think. He always has red inflamed feet, an eye infection and his chin and jowls are red. He also has alopecia. Usually we can throw an ear infection in there but this time he doesn't have one. The vet has given him antibiotics several times and he is currently taking Apoquel. When we adopted him he was on a raw diet but then he wanted what our other dog was eating, so I switched him to kibble. When we lost our other dog, I put him back on raw. As much as I love the raw diet, I was in a battle with my vet because she wanted to try a hydrolyzed diet to eliminate any form of protein as an allergy. He just finished a month of antibiotics for the third time in a year and a half.

I can't afford to keep giving him medication that doesn't seem to be working and I want him to have a better quality of life. Which got me here. After a quick search within the group, I decided to order Nustock and Quercetin. He is currently 89lbs, do I just give him the same dose as a human? I am going to also grab some pre and probiotics because I am sure he needs those. Once this bag of food is gone, I plan on switching him back to raw because he has had massive gas and diarrhea since switching to the kibble. Is there anything else should I be giving him? Any other advise? Ideas on what could be happening?

Your dog sounds a lot like our Winston. Early on he was on all those meds having all those problems but we werenā€™t comfortable with the meds. We had him tested for allergies he was allergic to everything. Heā€™s been on immune therapy ever since and has progressively gotten better each year. Oh sure there are some flare ups but nothing that canā€™t be managed. He only gets an injection once a month now and heā€™s happy and healthy. I was very leary of immune therapy but my wife was convinced and to her credit he is off all those nasty meds and his issues are manageable .She makes and cooks all his food. He still has some bald spots on his sides but is otherwise a happy bully ! Hope this helps has Kevin been tested for allergies? Winston was allergic to yeast dust mites grass etc. etc many different things Sending blessings Kevinā€™s way
