Medical needs: heartworm positive, needs possible tail amputation

Brixx came to us very overweight. We have been working really hard to get the extra pounds off of him. He only has about 10 more to go! He is heartworm postive. He came with a very infected tail in which we are still having difficulty getting cleared up. We are currently in talks with a vet about possible tail amputation.
Update: we are now working on possible food allergies as the cause for Brixx's tail infection. It is slowly clearing up. He was neutered on 3/7/16. He loves playing with his foster family and the family's dogs, cats, and pigs.
