Blue and Wellie heading to the hospital today..

So first, thank you everyone. Your prayers, and positive thoughts have definitely helped.

Wellie's doing fine (now). Turns out, he has an "aversion" to anesthesia. Instead of waking up slowly, he woke up instantly and tried to bolt. Winded up pulling out his catheter, and causing a wound at the site.
He also opened up the wound in his mouth/throat and caused bleeding there as well.

They gave him a light sedative to calm him down and he's resting peacefully now. They're going to keep him in recovery for a few more hours to make sure he's ok.

Blue was already moved out of recovery, and into a "hospital room" where they'll monitor him until tomorrow.

She said Wellies palate was one of the worst cases she's ever seen. That says a lot when it's coming from a vet that does this day in and day out.

Just another example of the kind of issues puppy mill dogs have.

I just burst into tears(I'm just a wreck lately) ... so happy they are both doing well! give them both kisses from me when you see them.... ah, heck.... hugs amd kisses to you too! :)

2BullyMama no no no no tears!! We decided that if everything goes well over night, we're heading to North Carolina last week of December. If you're around, Chris and Lewis can go do man things, while we finally have that drink!

love ya hun. I mean that! <hugs and kisses>

@Blueberrys Mom Just saw this now, and so happy to hear things have gone well. Hope they feel fine soon.

Big hugs to the boys from Castor!

So happy they are doing fine, and hope they have a speedy recovery.

So glad to hear they are doing fine! That is scary about Wellie and I am so glad that he is doing well now and they have him monitored. I hope that everything goes smoothly with their recovery!

Poor Wellie! Glad he has you now and that it's taken care of.

Thanks for answering my Q earlier! Like i said, was just curious. Makes sense to me!

Hugs to you and your pups. Hope they bounce back quickly! :)

Thanks all.

Got a call from the vet an hour or so ago. They're awake, alert, ate their dinner then went for a walk together.

Wellie coughed up two blood clots but she said they expected this since his palate was so large, and then he caused that scene. Otherwise, they're doing fine.

Provided everything stays this way, we'll be able to get them tomorrow afternoon.

I am so happy to hear that they have come through it all OK! That is scary about Wellie! Poor baby!!!! I think Mabel's palate issue has returned, but I don't think I want to do anything about it at this stage. Poor little thing wants to play, but she gags and coughs after a couple of minutes. I may see what the specialist says when he sees her again in the spring. I can't wait to hear about how well Wellie does!

I've been out all afternoon… I'm so relieved to hear that everything went okay!!! POOR Wellie, oh my goodness… I'm glad that I was busy today so I didn't have time to worry even MORE!!! Sending you guys lots of hugs and more prayers, hope the boys will get to come tomorrow
