This was posted to reinforce the danger of Xylitol. A sweet young bulldog puppy died because of it. So sad.

I am incredibly saddened to share that we lost our wonderful puppy Lola this Friday due to a horrible tragedy. I want to share this to help prevent it from happening to someone else. A few days ago ( without us knowing) she got into some sugar free gum with Xylitol - we are guessing she ingested 2-3 pieces. She started to throw up, drink a lot of water and urinate everywhere. Took her to the ER Vet and they kept her overnight, by the next day she was in liver failure and her blood was unable to clot. She was bleeding internally and her liver was dying. There was nothing they could do for her and we had to make the very difficult choice to put her to sleep. I am literally heartbroken - she was my righthand gal. She went everywhere with me and I was smitten with her. I had no idea that Xylitol was so lethal to dogs - it is in MANY food products and is 100 times more toxic than chocolate. I am going on a mission to shame companies for using it in food products and not warn consumers. PLEASE do not keep products in your home with Xylitol if you are a dog owner - it only takes a small amount to cause death. I would love for you to share my post as a way to honor my snorty, super-sweet girl who I miss so much
