We have raised many of them from small little koi. We have one that was born into the pond. Since we don't breed them, it is very rare for the babies to survive. Everyone wintered well and are looking happy and healthy. Enjoy
We love them so much. I can sit for hours just watching them swim. They think I'm going to feed them, so they are all in one spot. A few of them are hand trained and will eat from our hands
WOW!! Those are gorgeous! That has to take a lot of work to keep them up like that, really really nice. Thank you for sharing, I absolutely Love fish, you just made my day!:D
I absolutely LOVE Koi fish… we had a pond at our old house, and it was the hubby's pride and joy. We SO miss having a fish pond… we had some trained to eat out of our hand too. Please share more pics, they are absolutely gorgeous
Christine they hibernate. We stop feeding them in October and they all go down to the bottom and sleep. We start feeding again when the temp stays consistently above 50 degrees. We keep air going l so it doesn't totally freeze. The pond is about 7ft deep.
brutus77 They are really beautiful. When I was a kid, I used to ride my bike to a park that had a pond full of Koi. Some of them got very big. I had fish tanks most of my life-but not a fish pond. Thanks for sharing. Loved seeing them!
