Hi, we are bringing home our new puppy Winston May 30th. The breeder told us that his nose rope is already large for his age, (Right now He's 4 weeks) and that he may need to have it reduced at some point if the rope hangs over and obstructs his breathing. Has anyone heard of this? Or been through this?

Never ever heard of this before, that must be one heck of a rope!! :pics:

:welcome: to EBN!

To say something like that about a 4 week old pup sounds odd to me. I have seen some huge nose ropes, but very rarely they hang on the nose at that age. And it is more likely that the nose rope will get smaller in comparison when the head grows. And yes I definedly want to see pics....

Here are some pics of Winston

He will be fine, that nose rope is not too big. You are okay hun!!! :) What a cutie.

Thank you!! She said there was a 25% chance we could have to do something about it. I'm glad to hear it looks
Fine to you. :)

He is a cutie pie for sure, and I agree, that rope will be fine.

I doubt you'll ever have any problem or anything, but there have been instances where owners did not keep the nose rope clean and it can become infected if you don't. Also as they grow usually the nose rope becomes much less prominent, not always but usually.

:welcome3: to EBN! Congrats on the new baby.... he is precious!

I have heard of the reduction before, but mostly due to the area not being kept clean which cause issues.

fun and lots of loving :)
