Hey everyone! New to the group and to being a bulldog owner. I am quickly seeing that bills will add up, but I couldn't be more happy to be Ollie's mommy. He is 3 months old and has already been through a lot. Right now he is on antibiotics, cough suppressant and a bronchial medicine from a respiratory infection. I feel so bad for him! Its been two days of runny, snotty nose, hacking and gagging like he's going to throw up and he can't sleep due to the stuffed nose. Not sure where he got it from, since he's up to date on shots, we don't take him to dog parks or anything and his brother (a 4 month lab mix) is completely healthy. Just hoping these meds work, but it's definitely freaking me out! Hoping to get some good insight and advice from all the awesome bulldog owners here and looking forward to meeting everyone!

You have a sweet boy there! I understand your concern! I have a 4 month old named Debbie. About a month ago she got pneumonia. She spent 4 days in the Animal Hospital. And now she is currently back there with getting her cherry eye fixed. Keep an eye on your boy. Debbie did that gagging thing constantly and we knew something was wrong. Trust your instinct. Its amazing how they are totally worth it. I really never understood the glory of these bulldogs, but they sure capture your hearts. Big ol' clowns! HEHEHE. Hope Ollie gets better soon!

Welcome to you and Ollie! He sure is a cutie. I hope he starts feeling better soon. Since he is on antibiotics, it would be a good idea to add in a probiotic if you are not already doing so.

Bulldogs will definitely steal your heart!

If you are interested in trying some natural remedies for his stuffy nose, helsonwheels can tell you her essential oil mix you would just use with a diffuser. The recipe is all over this site as well if you do a search.

Welcome!!!!! Both you furballs are tooo cute!!

I had same issue with my brindle at 4-5 months old..around there... this is what I did...it disappeared in 2days...

Respiratory/Colds

In a diffuser that holes about one cup of water, add these oils.

8 drops of Eucalyptus
8 drops of Peppermint
8 drops of Lavender
8 drops of Lemon
5 drops of tea tree

Put the little cutie in his kennel n the diffuser up above his kennel. Leave it on all night. In the day do the same so it purifiers the air throughout the house.

Update on Ollie....took him back to the vet since he was not getting better and was up allll night hacking and sniffleing. He’s being admitted on IV antibiotic and fluids. This poor little guy Please send some well wishes to him, he’s going to need it...and so am I, since I’m a mess worrying about him.

Ollie you got this! Sending positive thoughts your way......

Omg.. he is adorable!!!

Great advice from the gang just be careful as Bulldogs can quickly developed pneumonia when they have colds or runny nose is so keep an ion it and when you see any change to his breathing have him checked out by your vet

Thank you to everyone for the positive thoughts! Ollie was admitted into a specialist vet because he was getting worse, even on the IV. They have him for the weekend and in a oxygen tank and running tests. Just praying this works and he can come home soon. I’ll keep everyone posted.
