Welcome to the July 2016 Fromm Family Foods Contest!

If this is the first page you are viewing on our forum, then I really must tell you more about our site before you go! We have a lot of fun here with many events, discussions, daily "Bully" poll, and articles. We welcome all members or if you have a question about your bully's health or care, we are happy to give whatever advice and experiences we can share. We hope you check out all our different forums and share your bully experiences with us!

About this contest:

This months contest is going to test your writing skills along with your feelings toward your beloved bully(s)! Your subject is your bulldogs, so write them a poem, either to them or about them, in any poetry form. Please include a photo of your bully.

Rules:

• Your poem must have the name(s) of the bulldogs you are writing about in it somewhere at least once.
• Include a well lit photo of your bully
• Please keep your poem under 500 words
• Don't forget your poem's TITLE!
• Only one poem per user please! If you submit more than one poem we will only enter the first poem submitted.
• All Bulldog moms, dads, and family members are welcome to enter our contest
• After July 22, 2016 we will no longer accept entries.
• All poem entries will be submitted to Fromm Family Foods staff who will choose the winner.
• Winner will be announced on or around August 1, 2016.
• Once you enter your poem in this contest you are giving English Bulldog News and Fromm Family Foods permission to publish it on their website and newsletter correspondence, and possible future items such as calendars and greeting cards.
• Your poem must belong to you. Copyright laws forbid you from entering any material that was not written by you in your own words.
• You must be a registered member of English Bulldog News and submit your poem by replying to this topic.
• We apologize but the contest winner must reside in the USA or Canada
• If you reside outside of the USA or Canada and you win, we will have the prize sent to any English Bulldog Rescue of winners choice in the USA or Canada.

Winner of this contest will receive the following prizes:

• Poem will be featured on our Home Page for one month
• Poems submitted will randomly be published in our Bulldog Poetry section

Sure miss this angel

USED

Used for breeding, you produced.

Year after year you produced,
until you could produce no more.

Left to wonder I did, all those years you were used,
used for breeding, how many did you produce?

Used for breeding, you produced.

Were you touched? Were you loved?

Touched you were, and loved you were,
by all those many babies you produced.

Used for breeding, you produced.

Left at the shelter you were…..why oh why,
because you got old and could not produce.

Left to a life unknown, a life with no touch, a life of no love,
from the only life you once knew, a life that produced.

Used for breeding, you produced.

Where did you come from I asked myself?
It didn’t matter really, because now you could no longer produce.

One sunny day in May, I scooped you up,
to a life now filled with endless touch and love!

Why did you come to us I asked myself?
Why? Because you were used for breeding and could not produce.

No longer needed to produce,
you were left to a life of uncertainty.

You produced and you were used, but now,
YOU are needed, YOU are touched and YOU are loved - for life!

And no longer are you used for breeding to produce.​

My Bulldog May be Stubborn,
As Greedy As They Come,
But He Puts A Smile Upon My Face
When He Wiggles His Little Bum.
Some Have Called Him Ugly,
Even said He's not that Smart,
But They Don't Know What I Do,
Nor Do They Have A Heart.

He's Stinky, Silly, Crazy,
And Rotten In Every Way,
But He Brings Me Joy, Love,
And Laughter, Every Single Day.
He Owns Every Part Of Me,
From Top to Bottom and Middle,
My Inspiration, My Bulldog,
Ruffin "Bodie" Esau Little.

BISCUIT OUR TRISCUIT

We have a bulldog named Biscuit
For she has captured our hearts
Her coat matches the color of a triscuit
And she fills the room with her farts

I've never met a dog so adoring
Or one with more sass this is true
Regular bones she finds rather boring
Instead she prefers a good shoe

She makes us giggle
Her love for us is so true
Her rolls have quite the jiggle
She's a true bulldog through and through!

An English Bullie with attitude
not too much sign of gratitude
You are the queen of this humble home
If the gate's left open,I know you'd roam

You do not realize that not all love
When you see people,you can't contain
the excitement you have,and it makes me sad
when someone won't pet you and you feel bad
and give that look "why Mom,why
why won't they pet me,no matter how hard I try?"
The love you have in your heart is not always understood,
but I know why
If people were dogs they would surely know
that YOUR love of people-IS the way to go!

An Ode to THE BOYS

Our boys are named Custer and Sherman
So happy they’re often found squirmin’.
They love food so much,
when the cookie jar’s touched
Their tail wags speed up, that’s confirmin’!

Now Sherman is calm and quite stoic
When protecting his Mom, quite heroic,
But Custer’s an imp,
although never a wimp,
and his kisses are often prolific.

Sherman’s the big water hater
No other dog’s hate can be greater
When bath time rolls round
And he’s nowhere to be found
We must use our bulldog locator!

Custer loves balls quite a bit
and humps them in amorous fit.
He chases the cat
And is sometimes a brat
But stops when you tell him to “cool it.”

Lucky we feel every day
And so without further delay
We will say ever more
That despite all the snores
Life should be no other way.

A Part of Me....
A part of me died today
When I heard the news
That you quietly slipped away
A part of my soul I did lose
A part of me cried today
A long dreaded reality came true
That there would be the day

My friend you were the best
to see you again I do pray

remembering the time that we had

Mr. Sarge
Once upon a time, we were a family of three…
Mom, Dad & Dutchie, happy as can be.
Then we caught word of a bully looking for a home,
Well we should take him in, it will surely be fun!
Into our life, Sargent did bounce,
he peed on our floor…and pooped in our house.
We showed him where we walked, and where the cookies were stored
He started to get comfortable, we could tell from the snores.
Now here he is, lying on the couch,
well until mom starts the vacuum, then he turns into a real grouch.
We hadn’t planned on expanding, our little family of three,
but now we don’t remember how it used to be.
Sargent was a blessing; we’ve known it since day one
He’s a little bit high maintenance but it’s so worth it for the fun!
He can eat all his dinner, in 30 seconds flat
He loves wearing sunglasses & his Toronto Blue Jay’s hat
He snorts and he drools, all over the place
But there’s nothing we wouldn’t do for that snorty, drooly face.
Now here we are, a happy family of four,
Life hasn’t been the same since Sargey walked in the door.

Lying in the desert sun,
Reflecting on my life.
Of all the things I've done and seen,
I know I got it right.

I see a young pup playing,
In the Northern grass.
At that age how would I know,
That youth sure doesn't last?

My teenage years were pretty fun,
That's where I learned my place.
Going to work and learning a trade,
And the pride on Daddy's face.

Working at the jobsite,
And lunchtime with the guys,
That's when I knew,
The awesome of alive!

Roofing, framing, eating tape,
After being told to stay.
Chasing that ol' compressor hose,
Thinking, "I'll get you one day!"

Taking a friend to the beach,
When he was feeling blue.
Pretty girl comes up to us,
I say, "Sorry Victor, I gotta poo!"

I'm getting older now
And have responsibilities.
My boy will be home from school soon,
Then we can play frisbee.

The baby girl sure does love me,
She rides me like a horse.
They mean the world to me,
I'd give my life of coarse.

The time is flying by now,
I'm retiring to the south.
To a little desert ghost town,
No more humidity in my mouth.

A burden I've come to be,
This so much I know.
Although my family tells me,
That it isn't so.

My eyes have grown dark,
It's hard for me to see.
Still my family tells me,
That they will never leave me.

It takes a dog a lifetime,
To find his way home.
My family did the best for me,
That I have ever known.

So when it's time for me to go,
And walk into that fog.
I'll have no regrets only loving memories,
Being "just a bulldog".

One Piece

My dog, Tonka, has a sturdy build.

His muscles ripple when he runs.

His fur is coarse,but healthy.

His teeth, with the exception of one, are albescent.

His eyes are chocolate brown

Full of expression and understanding –

Sometimes happy,

Sometimes full of disgust

But

Always full of love.

His button nose makes one laugh because of its shape-

Angled in toward his head

Black and flattened with two little slits for air holes.

His tail resembles a cinnamon bun-

Corkscrewed and swirly,

Not blackened and burned,

But

Brown and perfectly done.

His ears are soft and brown with a straight little scar running down the left one.

His snores can interrupt the deepest of sleeps.

Tonka, One Piece of our family that keeps us smiling!

Hector
The first time I saw you, Hector,
You nearly gave me a fright,
When I saw 60 lbs of "puppy" sitting in my floor
That Thanksgiving Eve Night!
It took me a little while to get use to your slobbers and your farts,
But it didn't take me long to learn that you have a big heart!
You instantly loved your siblings, Leah Grace and Jo
and out in the rain or snow you never want to go!
Your "new" dad demanded you be put on our Christmas card
and that all of your poops be picked up out of the yard!
We learned to take care of you; your hair, your nose, your eyes
and the fact that we have to vacuum and swiffer daily come as no surprise!
Adding you to our family did add a lot of chores
Often at night when we sit together we listen to your snores!!
Not long after you came to us you got a little sick
Then I realized you had wiggled your way into my heart rather quick!
Sometimes you are a bit stubborn and look as if you frown
Other times you are playful and stare at us with your eyes of chocolate brown.
You don't like to get your nails trimmed and at times you growl at the TV,
I must confess now that when I count children
It's no longer 2 but 3!!
