How many times do you have to call your bulldog before they come?

I seriously think Bella waits until my third call. I think it's a game for her. She now turns her head away and then runs toward me only after my third frustrated call of her name.

This girl!

Bulldogs have hearing problems but have very keen eyesight. They repeatedly ignore you when called but try flashing a piece of treat and they come running from a mile away.

She ignores "Bella," but she'll trip me racing to the kitchen when I say, "Dinner."

:laugh: Cheli actually stares at me like... Mwhat? I hear you '

Monty has cloth ears, can't hear a thing unless it's his treat tin. He ignores us completely for the most part!

typical bully, they will come when it's their idea, or they hear that treat, or dinner word. LOL

Helene: Nyala come
Nyala: do I go, do I just stare at her, pfffft Im comfy here

Helene: NYALA COME NOWWWW
Nyala: :whut?::huh::wtf2:

Helene: :aaargh::tapfoot: taking 2 steps towards Miss Muffet
Nyala: :bigeyes::yikes::eek::retreat::peace2::busted::master: im coming :rundog::rundog::rundog:

The spoiled ones(our own) sometimes need an extra call or 2. But the rescues never get spoiled and when called they come running. It's because they don't get the attention the others get so ANY amount of attention is well-received.

You hit the nail on the head with this... sounds like Nico especially with the 2 steps towards. What a funny take on it. Thanks for the laugh this morning.

Joey couldn't care less that I call her, she might consider coming if I get a treat but most of the times I have to physically go get her and carry her to where I want her:ashamed:

Bennie listens kind of ok-ish but at night when I want to take them out one last time before bed it's a bit of a struggle... I have to either play with him, roll him around and tickle him so he gets up or I call him 3 times, then I tell him nicely, -"You must come now OR I'll use my angry voice"... he sometimes gets up then already but if he doesn't he will get up when I use my deep deep "man" voice, lol.

Boeboe does what she wants... she might listen up if I clap my hands but she's a lost cause 99% of the time:facepalm2:

If he thinks I have a treat, it is usually the first time. If not, then good luck.

On a side note, I must say hey a lot because whenever he is doing something naughty and I say hey he looks at me and then stops doing it when I stare him down.
