Hi everyone, we had a big scare this afternoon with Dozer. My son had bought the furballs two huge rawhide bones a few months ago, and I told him they weren't good or safe for them to have. I took them away from them after they had chewed on them and made them all slimy. I placed them in a large freezer bag and placed them in the bin beside the dogfood, and forgot about them. Well my son took them out today and washed them under the tap, which made them really slimy because they became very soft and mushy. I told him he couldn't give them to the dogs, and he said I'll sit here and watch them while they have them. Well he went downstairs to the basement for a minute and while he was gone for those few minutes, I hear Dozer is gagging and choking. I run over to him and he had swallowed the knot from the end of the bone, and then he threw up all over the floor, the knot came up and so did all of his kibble from breakfast. As I'm trying to make sure Dozer was okay, and trying to get him to go into his crate so I could clean up the barf, I see that Blossom has tore her Rawhide bone in two pieces, so I tried to take it away from her, and she grabbed it and took off with one of the pieces. I was afraid she would swallow it too, so I screamed out to my son to come quick and help me, I screamed Dozer is choking and has barfed everywhere, and Blosssom has broken her bone and had a piece of it. He came flying up the stairs and tripped and fell up the stairs, and then slid back down them. He hit his forearm really hard and it's bruised and swollen and he hurt his shin and foot. It was like a 3 ring circus here, I was yelling at him to come and yelling at him for giving the dogs those stupid rawhide bones, and he was yelling at me, why didn't I watch them while he was gone, and why did I yell, because that scared him and made him fall down the stairs. So obviously everything was my fault. Lol. I'm just glad he dogs are okay, and Dozer was able to throw up the piece of bone. Whew. That really scared me, and I'm glad my son is okay.
Moral of the story is My son should have listened to me. The bones went in the garbage and they are never getting anything like that again. I don't drink, but I might start after that. Lol

What an ordeal!! I hate that panic feeling. I'm so glad everyone is okay and nothing serious happened!!! Yikes, I'd say you definitely need a cocktail or two :)

Holy crap.... the trip down the stairs is karam for your son not having listen to you to begin with.... :stinkeye:

So happy you are all OK and no one needed a trip to the doctor :whew:

Wow, I hate those kind of moments, scary. Glad everyone is ok other than a few bumps and bruises.

Oh my word, I would have panicked too!!! Thank goodness all turned out okay, and shame shame on him for not listening, next time just throw it out so there is no chance. Now, go have a sangria. mmmm... :mansfriend:

Goodness… what a circus!!! I'm glad that everyone is okay and NO more rawhides!!! Bella swallowed one whole, and she almost choked to death… I've never been more scared in my life, it was horrible!!!

I'm so shaken by the horror I can only send grateful hugs
that all are alive...WHEW!

Oh the joys of having kids and dogs together! I had 3 boys--they're now grown and have their own families. And at times it sure was a circus! Once, one or two or all 3 dogs (I had two boxers and a bully) got a tube of Retin-A that the boys left out. Of course, all I knew was that I found a chewed up tube on the floor. Off to the vet we go where all three had a charcoal wash--they had to stay all day till their systems were all flushed out.

I'm so glad the chewy came up. I'm so paranoid about my dogs swallowing stuff (especially Winnie!). She'll swallow anything chewed and slimy, no matter how big it is.

Well, tomorrow's a new day. Get ready Monica!

:whew:Rough day-but turned out lucky. Kids, no matter how old. never listen to their mothers! Glad all is well-except maybe an elbow or two.

Oh my, Monica. I'm glad everyone is ok! Things woukd have had a slight twist on it in my house. My son would have purposely thrown himself down the stairs hopeing for serious injury so I wouldnt kill him for not listening and giving the bones in the first place! Lol
