Yesterday i took my bully in for tail pocket surgery, the vet called me and said spike's body didn't take the anesthesia too well. . I live in a smaller city where there aren't many vets. I thought this was such a routine surgery and thought nothing about doing it. They never intubated him and i think he aspirated while he was under. I miss him so much.

I am so very sorry for you loss.... Spike is still with you and always will be!!

thanks. i just hope spike's situation will encourage people to really think about who they entrust their bullies to. Go to vets that are used to handlng and treating bulldogs.

are there any members that are vets that handle mostly bulldogs? Any know of one in Califonia or Arizona?

I'm so very sorry for your loss and will have you in my prayers.

It is a terrible shock getting that call, it happened to me and many
members here, we know the pain you feel.

Again, my deepest sympathies.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Many of us know the pain you are feeling-and the shock. You will never forget your Spike, and know that you are not to blame yourself, as how could you have known this tragedy would happen. Any person or dog could have met the same fate, when going "under", but a veterinarian unfamiliar with bullies
should not have done the procedure-should have recommended someone. Praying for you, as I know we all are on EBN.

My sincere condolences on the loss of your bully, Spike. I'm so very sorry.

I live in CA and my vet is very knowledgable about EB's. Also, her husband is the vet tech who specializes in anesthesia so i have a lot of trust in them in that regards.
The vet I go to is in Monrovia, CA and they're called the Family Dog and Cat Hospital.

I am so sorry to hear about Spike...losing a bullie is so hard! :(

So sorry for your loss, it just angers me when a vet doesn't know what they are doing and let a bully die. May he rest in peace. He will forever be in your heart.

Every time Lily is under our bully vet gives us paperwork to sign so we are aware of the risks involved (not waking up )like someone already pointed out it does happen ,no matter what vet or a doctor is it -its a risk ;-(
Im so sorry for your loss dont blame yourself -things like this do happen xx

Im so sorry. Thats heartbreaking and a terrible thing to happen to poor Spike. We go to Dr. Trout who works out of Media City animal hospital in Burbank and she's worked with many bulldogs before. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of loss.
