Dolly day dream
Hello all, my name is louise im the proud owner of a beautifull female bully, called dolly !. had dolly 3 days ago now and had to take her to the vets yesterday for her vaccines, she had some discharge on her behind, and on examination it was shown she had an infection, so they sedated her, cleaned it all out and have given me antibiotics and cream, she has a check up in a weeks time. she seems to be a little better today.

Dolly does not play, and before she was admited to the vets people commented that she was very dosile , is this normal ? she doesnt run, she sleeps all the time, she goes out into the garden, sits up a cornor and i cant beckon her in ! i have to go and fetch her !. she sits next to me for cuddles and rests her head on my legs but today i went to stroke her and she backed off from me, she just seems so miserable

i have loads of toys and i have been trying to play with her but she just looks at it with no reactions, no excitment, aggresion, nothing !

i have never had a bully so i dont know if this is just what they are like , but surely she should be running or playing, of course she has been unwell but even before that she didnt seem interested in playing or bonding with us

im really worried can any one help

lou x

it is normal for them to be lazy but it does sound like she isnt feeling very well. is your vet a good bully vet? if not then i may try and get her checked out by a vet that know bullies well. maybe i am wrong but why did they sedate her? i would be cautious of a vet that wants ti sedate my bully, they are very sensitive to things like this. maybe i misunderstood? did the vet say she is fine other than this? by the way, welcome, we love pics here so please share!

How is she eating and drinking? Sounds to me like she does not feel well.

she definately must not feel good. I have a 7 wk old and he is WILD!!!! Don't get me wrong, he does get tired and is lazy at times but he plays alot, growling and biting. I hope your baby feels better soon and if not I would definately find a good bullly vet:yes:

How old is she???????
If she has an infection she is probably not feeling well at all. Give it a few days of the antibiotics and if she doesn't improve dramatically revisit the vet... or another one.
Welcome , I hope you enjoy the site.... we love pix by the way.. LOL

Hi and welcome to our site! As everyone says, you must be cautious if a vet chooses to sedate your bully. They're very sensitive to them. It is highly recommended to find a vet that specializes in the breed as they require special and different care from other breeds.

How old is Dolly? Bullies, in general, are docile in nature, but they're very active when they're puppies. A good indication that she's not feeling well is if she's lost her appetite and refuses food. Maybe she's still tired from the sedative or fatigue is a side effect of the meds? Not too sure. Please keep us updated!

Sounds like your baby is poorly, backing away from a stroke too! maybe she has some pain associated with her infection :(
You should see visable improvment after the first 24hrs of antibiotics, but i have no experience with dogs that have been sedated so not sure how long it would take to recover from that
i'd take her back to the vet or even to another vet xx hope she's well soon xx

I agree with the above. It usually takes my babies atleast 24 hours to recover from meds/sedation. If she hasn't shown any interest in playing...I would think something is wrong. These little guys are very sensitive. She may be missing her litter mates and her mama...her life has completely been torn apart the last 4 days or so. Lots of love and cuddles. Eventually she should come around. The heartbeat pillow is a great alternative for a sibling. Also, they have a toy like comfort thing that allows you to microwave it...simulates the body heat of the litter mates. Poor girl..hopefully once the infection clears up she will get some energy back. For a puppy...she should have plenty. Please keep us posted and share some photos of your little one. We  photos and videos.

Oh Poor bully! I agree and would wait the 24 hrs and if no improvement I would go back to a Bully Vet. I hope everything works out and would  to see some pics. How old is Dolly?

All of the above. And welcome to the forums.
We are glad you to have you here. There are many
helpful people on this forum. Don't be afraid to
ask anything. Chances are someone here has been
threw the same thing.

Welcome to the forums! I hope Dolly is feeling better soon. Poor baby..it's awful when they are sick.

Hi, thank you all so much for your replies, i have been so worried.

she is 15 weeks old, i have had her 4 days she had her procedure yesterday, i have attached a pic of her tail post procedure for your opinions, as well as some other pics of her.

the vets i used is the same i use for my pug a large vetinary group, there is a bulldog specialist locally but i was only made aware of him today, i will be getting his opinion.

she is eating really well, i feed her purina dried 100% complete food, but include fresh chicken, natural yoghurt, vegatables, beef, and a little bit of cheese for treats, ive been using it to hide her tablets in.

she has been asleep for the last 5 hours, but as i have been typing this she has run across the lounge, i havent seen her move before, but shes now sat down again !.

she is just sat on her bed awake but sat up doing nothing, i have tried playing, i have got loads of toys, and ive rolled on the floor ! she just looks reluctant to move im worried shes miserable ..

while im here how do i upload a profile pic i cant do ? everyone has lovely avatars and mine is so boring lol x

Dolly is a cutie! That tail looks sore! Was it like that when you got her? Or did it get that way since you brought her home? The way that looks, she's probably pretty miserable. I would contact the Bully vet and see what he thinks. Welcome to our group!!

Not sure where in the Uk u are chick
But there is a list of reputable vets on Vets

Hope that helps x
