Gunner was transferred to us from a local shelter where he was terrified and depressed. He is a 4 year old English Bulldog and Boston Terrier mix who we know had a previous owner and lived with another dog and cat. The transition was hard on Gunner and it has been so rewarding watching him come out of his shell and thrive in his foster home. His ideal household would be consistent, patient, calm and friendly with no children as they would make him too nervous. His new owner would need to be understanding that he is shy and lacking confidence at first, but is the most loving and playful companion once you gain his trust! He bonds deeply with his owner but still remains fearful of strangers, including household guests. Therefore, he will need an owner who understands his fears and ensures proper and positive introductions to strangers and understands he'd rather be left home than taken to an event with a lot of people. He would do best in a home with a friendly female dog (he may do OK with males but has not lived with one before). Gunner needs the canine companionship to help with his confidence in a new household. He is fully potty trained and does well on walks although he is skittish when strangers approach him. Gunner's personality is unfolding each day and he really is a wonderful pup. He loves playing with his toys and really enjoys human and canine companionship. Gunner also loves taking long naps and his favorite place is burrowed under the sheets. Gunner is now ready for his forever family!
