I did email you privately with this message but wanted to post it here, just so if anyone else had any ?s or is going through the same thing.
When I got Murphy in August he had severe cherry eye in both eyes.
There was no massaging it back in.
It honestly looked like they would pop.
I made an appointment at the vet immedietly for a check up etc.
Before the surgeries I used opth lube.and Terramycin to keep the cherry moist so they wouldnt dry out and bleed.
We scheduled surgery for both eyes.
First surgery August 21-15
They were just doing the simple tack.
He got out and his left eye looked perfect.
The right one had a little bulge to it.
We went back for our two week check up & the tack didn't work on the right eye.
The cherry eye was still slipping back out.
So his actual eye wasn't red, on the bottom he had I guess you would say " meat" at the bottom of the eyelid. the cherry eye, not fully out but that's what it was. His eye color was white, little red lines but not bloodshot.
So we scheduled the second surgery. Also getting him neutered.
September 24th-2015
Doing the regular tack as we did in the first surgery.
I could tell as soon as he got out that it didn't work.
Frustrated we dealt with it for a little more than a month after it healed.
I know it wasn't hurting him, but it didn't look great.
Went back to the vet and scheduled the 3rd surgery.
November 24th-2015
This time it was tacked but it was tacked a different way. I can't remember the name at all.
She tacked it down in his cheek by his nose. So his cheek was going to be puffy as well.
Making the medicine that needed to get into his eye a little harder just because I usually held his face and I knew this time it would be sore.
The third time I took away all toys, he wore the cone a week longer than needed.
I gave him water with a big syringe, he thought it was a game. I put his food on a towel spread it around so he could eat with his cone still.
I was trying to do anything and everything I could, so that the cherry wouldn't tear the stitch and come back.
We had regular pain meds after surgery.
But we had eye drops. I didn't like the gel, and asked if there was something else.
The drops are called
Neopoly/dex opth Susp 5ml-$30.06
The gel was the same thing, but harder to use.
After all the surgeries I told my husband we needed to buy stock in the neopoly dex drops for how many bottles we needed.
He got 8 drops in the eye a day.
Helps with inflammation and infection etc.
His eyes were a little goopy after surgery and it got crusty after the first week after every surgery.
His eye was pushing out all the yucky stuff, blood etx from the surgery.
After that week he had eye boogers, just keep cleaning them.
He is on filtered water with apple cider vinegar. He gets coconut oil, probiotic yogurt, pumpkin and green beans.
With all of that his tear stains don't even exist anymore( thanks to EBN)and he doesn't really have eye boogers anymore.
He is my first bully so i searched the site about the tear stains, and everything I could.
So his left eye looks great still.
His right eye the cherry eye is not present but he does have a little meat at the bottom of the eye from all the surgeries. It shows a little bit at different times of the day. He has a little more pink eye skin on the bottom but I'll take that over the cherry eye any day!
I think even with all the surgeries his eyes look great.
With the pictures you can see how it got much better after each time. And how his eyes are glossy from trying to push all the gunk out.
The newest ones you can understand about how there's a bit more pink at the bottom of the eye.
