Just bought my puppy 🐶 we've only had him 2 months so he's 4 months old we noticed that he had a red eye and I told the Mrs it's cherry 🍒 eye took him to the vets and they confirmed that it was, gutted that's why I bought thr dog kc reg plus good blood lines I did ask if he had a heath check they told me he had. Anyway the insurance had run out so it's going to cost us £1400 tomorrow gutted plus no other insurance will cover us for this problem l. I'm hoping that his other eye doesn't need the surgery in the future for cherry eye I was hoping I could get some advice on this mater.

No rush to fix the cherry eye. You can have it done when you get your dog fix.
Or try the cherry eye manoeuvre.

Oh my gosh. My girl is scheduled for cherry eye surgery next month. I didn't even ask the estimated cost. Now I am shaking in my boots. I will report back.

They said it was £1400 but when we took him down and asked the surgeon she said we always say £1400 as the max, but one of the girls on the reception said if its more we'll give you a bell before operating. Anyway the bill came to £1280 so it didn't feel that bad. The only issue is because we let the insurance go over 2 weeks, no we can't get insurance for the other eye or if this one collapses.

You learn by your mistakes lol.
But he's worth it.

Prayers for a speedy recovery

My vet strongly recommended getting both eyes corrected at the same time, and that’s the route I took. The idea is to avoid multiple surgeries and downtime later on. Even with the surgery, cherry eye can come back, but doing both at once usually reduces the chances of future issues.
Something that has helped a lot with my bulldog is a daily routine: each morning I use an eye wipe to clean around the area, and then I gently massage the corners of his eyes—there’s a video circulating from another bulldog owner that shows the technique. I’ve been doing that religiously every day to help keep the gland in place.
At the end of the day, it’s your call, and every dog is different. I just wanted to share what worked for us and what my vet recommended. If you have any questions, feel free to ask—I’m always happy to help another bulldog owner.
** Here’s a picture of Gunny when he had the cherry eye.
