Farley Foo (8 1/2 yrs old) RIP My precious FarlyFoo 7/24/2017
I need some help with Farley.. Poor guy is such a low rider that his belly and pee pee touch the ground so easily..He has been having the belly in front of his pee pee being swollen, red and inflamed. I think it is from grass? He likes to go outside and bark at us when we do chicken chores.*lol*

He takes Benadryl each meal and I really don't think it helps anymore. I also will wipe the area with his facial wipes then put a topical cortisone on it and that helps give him some relief.

Will a shirt help him? And where do I get a shirt or do you just use a child T-Shirt? He needs a belly protector.*lol*

Any suggestions?

Ugh poor baby… I've never used a t-shirt before, but it does make sense. I will tag some people that might have other ideas… we had a stray that was highly allergic to grass, and they had to put her on steroids for it but that was years ago.

We do the shirt thing if hulk keeps scratching. He's a little over a year and only 43lbs. He wears a boys 5T lol dog clothes don't fit him in the neck/chest

You could get some vet wrap (online or at horse supply/feed store) and put it around him when he is going to be outside. that would be tighter than a tee shirt-but yet not draggy like a tee. If you know vet wrap-it sticks to itself, and you can put a clean piece on each day-as he doesn't need it on in the house. Hope this helps!@JennyBean
just wrap it around and put it together on his back, firmly but not too tight.
I know it's not funny but "low rider" made me laugh! I can picture a vehicle..........

Have you thought about trying Claritin or Zrytec ?

Thank you for the ideas! He is 50 lbs and so Portly!:haha: I tried putting a small woman's T-shirt on him and he refuses to walk. It is too tight in the shoulders and neck.*lol* Poor guy. I couldn't help but laugh I must admit.. He was so annoyed with his tight shirt.

I haven't tried Claritin or Zyrtec

Do you know what dosage?

Vet tape that is a great idea too! I never thought of that idea.

I have tried doggy clothes at the Pet stores but they don't carry his shape..*LOL*

Thanks for the sizing you use for your Hulk. This can give me a better idea of sizes he may try.

Shoot.. I don't know how to Tag people.*lol*

I haven't tried Claritin or Zyrtec Do you know what dosage?

I believe it is 1 pill per day Blueberrys Mom -- Ellie is that correct?

For Claritin it's one 10mg unflavored pill per day for a bullie around 60lbs (not Claritin-D, just plain Claritin).
For a 50lb bulldog I'd ask your vet. Or you can buy the 5mg pills and give 1 and a half. I don't remember how much for Zyrtec ddnene

I use to put a t-shirt on Blue when his itching got bad to prevent him from scratching himself bloody. But I would just use my husbands Hanes under shirts, the short sleeved crew neck ones.
Here's a pic. Click pic for full size.
But now, I just wipe him down after each walk, including his face. I never even thought of it until 2BullyMama mentioned that's what she does.

I just gave Winston 1 Zyrtec a day, but he was a puppy… Zyrtec is really helpful for any eye allergies.

@Blueberrrys Mom Thank you for your cute photo and Tshirt size. I'll try my husbands T-shirt until I find some vetwrap today.

Thanks @2BullyMomma for all your help!

I'll try out some claritin or zytec @2ddnene , I think I have some of those here on hand.
