You mentioned you weā€™re pulling/stretching and trying to see where the pain was on the leg n he didnā€™t flinch one bit. Did you check inside his paw?

I was thinking the same... maybe a cut or something in paw?

If you rewind the video...can we say rewind? Sh*t lollll. Ok ok. So if you ā€œplayā€ the video over n over, seems he lets his paw side out so it doesnā€™t touch the floor with it. A sliding move like that and from what I see nothing is wrong with the shoulder at all. I would definitely check the paw. Hard when youā€™re not beside him...ship him over here :)

bulliemommi helsonwheels 2BullyMama So yesterday again I massaged his entire arm, stretched it/pulled it in different directions and not a single flinch. The reason I think it's the shoulder is because when he walks the arm is extended out further. So if I look at him from above it's like he's trying to do a split :D helsonwheels you are right, he is sliding with his arm, kind of looks like he is trying to skateboard lol
If it was the paw, what would I be looking for? I examined every little finger of his and moved them and I didn't see anything abnormal nor did he make a sound. When he walks he is walking sideways because he is trying not to lean on it. I scheduled a vet appointment, but the earliest they told me is Monday. I'm gonna call again today to move it to today.

What is he like walking on carpet? He was on a wood floor and if Monty is anything to go by, his feet will go sideways like that and he has no limp. We have runners everywhere now as he just couldn't get good traction!

Not just the toes ā€œinside ā€œ the deep inner paw. Stick your finger in the inner pads. If itā€™s wet can be yeast or infection or something stuck in there. Use a flashlight. Nyala has black pads and she was limping last year. I couldnā€™t see anything even with a light. My daughter in law was over. So I held Nyala down and opened up her pads n my DIL used the flashlight and deep inside we saw tiny tiny white wet flakes. I cleaned ir with her tail pocket mixture n q-tips. Took a couple days n gone. Couple weeks ago was Duke with a yeasty inner pad. I did same thing n gone. Iā€™m not saying thatā€™s what your dog has and yes see the vet as it can be a pull muscle or something else. But do check the inner pad.

We went yesterday to the Vet. He is fine, most likely a sprain or soft tissue injury. We're going to rest him for a few more days. Looks like he is getting better. Thanks to all for the help.

It's been a week and he is still limping and in my eyes it doesn't look like it has improved :fie: He was a little more active over the weekend so maybe it prevented him from healing. Because the vet told us not to be too concerned that was a sense of relief, but now I am back to being worried. In your experiences, how long does it take for a pulled muscle/sprain/soft tissue injury to get better?

Two days before I was supposed to have picked Louie up he had been running around with his mama and she landed on his back leg spraining it so the breeders kept him longer while it healed. I picked him up 1 week later and you would have never known he had a sprain. Have you had any x-rays done? If not, at this point that might be a good idea.

He hasn't been x-rayed. The vet said the way she has to maneuver him to get an x-ray may do more damage to the arm. She didn't want to put him on anti-inflammatory either because he's young. I'm crating him during the day and just applying ice twice per day. I guess give it a day or two more and the I'll have to take him back to the vet.

It's hard but definitely be strict with the crate rest. Carry him out to potty and then back in the crate.

I'd be suspecting, after a week of crate rest and no improvement, a ligament tear. If still no improvement after 2 more days, it's time to escalate this to a specialist.
Too young for anti inflammatory meds? Hmmm. An X-ray would show little or nothing in terms of soft tissue damage. An orthopedic surgeon could probably tell from joint manipulation.
I hope I'm wrong and he's back to new in 2 days.

If it is a ligament tear, would surgery be the only option?? I hope it's not that :(
