Meilyr is going to be sedated to check on his rear left leg which he has not putting weight on. They were able to do an xray and feel around but they want to get him a little more relaxed to feel around. May be an ACL tear or the luxating patella. He's being seen by a bully specialist here in San Antonio but i want to ask about what is going to be used to sedate him. Any advice? Thanks 

Make sure they will only be using isoflurine. They should not need anything else.

My vet explained that they give them a sedative combination..like valium..and that just relaxes their throats enough to get the tube down for the isoflourane (sp) gas..the gas doesn't get into their blood stream like a general anesthetic and when they wake up..there is no drowziness..nothing leftover from the gas.. Good Luck to sweet Meilyr

Meilyr did great. No problem with his leg but they diagnosed it is bilateral hip displaysia. he's going to be treated with prednisone for now and then pain med tramadol. He's still a bit groggy but is doing good. Gave him some soft white rice and beef shank. Little treat for my warrior. He doesn't need immediate surgery but something doc said he will need in older age more than likely. Time to check Texas A&M. Vet school may offer some options, you never know. Thanks again everyone for your concern.
