"Keep a small squeeze bottle of lemon juice handy, such as the kind made by RealLemon®.
If your Bulldog is overheated, breathing can become unusually labored and loud, and the tongue may begin to turn bluish.
Much of this is caused by a buildup of phlegm that blocks the airways.
One good squirt of lemon juice to the back of the dog's mouth will clear this phlegm instantly and breathing will improve immediately-- Try to squirt towards the Side and then back of the mouth.. NOT too much
You can also squirt to the side of the dog's mouth ...

Excellent info Monica. I always have lemon juice in the fridge just for the bulldogs. It really does break up the phlem.

It helps a bunch when Frank is phlegmy. He hates it but if I squirt a little inside his mouth along the side, it works well.
