my one tip, because i'm a little tipsy on wine right now to read all those funny wine-driven tips, is don't overcook that BIRD! use a meat thermometer people!

(please forgive me, i just ended a two day interview at a pretty prestigious university and i'm cutting loose with an old friend from grad school who got me a bit loose on three beers and two glasses of red wine, heading back home tomorrow morning!)

Ok funny Thanksgiving story. We go to my sister and brother-in-laws every year. and of course me and my sister-in-law love rum and cokes. well I guess one year we drank too much because while we were preparing dinner my sister-in-law says "oh look the oven light is working"! she was very happy because it had not worked in years. my brother-in-law looked at the oven and yelled "your an effin lush, the oven is on fire"!!! We nearly peed ourselves from laughter.

I was supposed to have this Thanksgiving off from cooking but one of my older kids is coming into town. This is how the conversation went. me, "we are going to the casino for dinner" Son, "oh you arent cooking" all sad. Me, "Of course i will cook" thinking damn it!! hence , I will be following this message religiously
