Worried that Murray has cherry eye :(

EBN gurus I could use your sage advice and calming words this morning I'm kind of freaked out. I noticed that Murray has what looks like cherry eye, I'll attach pictures to this post though they aren't great it was hard to keep him still. Wanting to know if you guys think this is cherry eye, what your experiences have been and any and all advice you have! I sent my vet the pictures and she recommended surgery when I take him to be neutered. Also, if anyone could share a ballpark of what cost this treatment was for you that would be helpful. Thank you so much!!

It does look like cherry eye, but sometimes you can gently massage the eye and it will pop back in. I will tag some experts, cherry eye surgery is pretty common w/these guys.

When FTSE's cherry eye came up it was an actual bulge from the very beginning like a pink cherry sitting in the inner corner of the eye, that to me doesn't look like what he had but I am not saying it isn't it certainly could be the start of it I would get it checked by the vet. How old is Murray?

Just had another look and thinking there is a bulge there just I can't get the picture big enough to see it properly first look it just looked red to me, but it possibly is.

i will try to get a better picture tonight after I get out of work he's at my parents house today. It looks in person like its popped out a bit. Murray will be 8 months on the 28th of November. Thank you for responding!

Does look like it in that last picture, have the vet take a look and talk to them about options (tacking vs removing ) before the surgery.

I tagged you to read another thread where I wrote the information you asked for about my experience (I'm too lazy to write the whole thing again). Don't freak out. When I get a bulldog puppy, I just assume they'll probably have to have cherry eye surgery--it's so common. I've lucked out with Winnie so far.

i agree the last picture does but would still have it looked at.. if it is there are some great videos on youtube that will show you how to massage it back in.. my odie had one and it looked similar to that..

Bella had it in one eye we had her vet fix it. im thinking the cost was like 250.00 i may be wrong beings it was 3 years ago. my mind tends to want to be younger than it really is haha

@CCandMurray I had a look today on the computer the picture is bigger the last photo maybe, Ftse was a lot bigger from the very beginning with him one day there was nothing the next morning a complete bulge and I could massage it back for a week or two then would not go back and he had surgery to have it tacked back in and has been all good so far Ftse only had it one eye he was five months old.

I'm going through the same thing right now with Lockjaw. I was able to massage it back 2 times- after that it decided to just stay popped out. I took him to my vet- she gave me antibiotic/steroid ointment. Sometimes that helps- I'm our case, it hasn't. He's had it for about 2 weeks now. My vet wanted to just take out the gland, and was actually a little pushy about it. Coincidentally- Penny is having her Nare survey and spay tomorrow, but it's out of town with a bulldog specialist. I called them today and they said that they would give me a rough estimate for what it would cost and talk about tacking or removing the gland. This vet seems more conservative than mine in town, so I'll have more information tomorrow. Either way, we are going to wait to do it when we neuter him as well as get his mates opened up also.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm still feeling pretty freaked out. Worried and wondering if this is the type of thing that I should look into a specialist for or if it can wait til January when his insurance kicks in and get him neutered at the same time. I wish I could just massage it back in and although I haven't seen the vet yet she told me not to try doing that and I know nothing about it and am worried that something horrible would happen and I'd end up hurting Murray or making it worse. It seems like from what I've read most of you seem to recommend pinning so I will definitely talk to the vet about that tomorrow. my fear is that he'll have surgery and have chronic dry eye or something worse and I want to do whatever I can to avoid that. If anyone knows of a vet or specialist within like 3 hours or so of upstate New York please let me know! Also, I got a better picture of Murray's eye. Thanks everyone!

Gail, when you had Odie did you ultimately have surgery or just massaged it back in?

If you have this on your vet record will your insurance cover it as mine didn't as I had seen the vet prior to taking the insurance out and it was a pre exsisting but I dropped out after three years anyway I got sick and tired of paying and they would knock everything back so I was paying close to a thousand just for his needles which wasn't even $200 now if Ftse needs to go I just pay 100% out of my pocket/
