Bella has something on her face. The first picture is from mid-December. The second picture is from today. It's gotten bigger, obviously.

On Christmas Eve, I went to the bulldog specialist vet in my area, and she said it's a skin tag, which will always be there. "Bulldogs have bad skin." That's what she said to me. :unsure: Also, she said that she can perform a minor procedure to remove it. (I didn't agree to procedure...yet.)

Yesterday, I took Bella to her vet daycare (where they noticed the thing), and they said its a wart or herpes, which should fall off eventually. They said she probably caught it from another dog.

The thing is, she hasn't been around other dogs in a long time. But, I feel like it's a wart. Why would a year old pup get a skin tag?? To me, it looks more like a wart than a skin tag.

Is there something I can put on it? I will go back and ask her regular vet what I should put on it, but I'm wondering what you guys think.

It doesn't itch her, but it's ugly.

That looks like a wart to me since it has that cauliflower top. I would say leave it alone unless it is bothering her… sometimes if they scratch at it they bleed. They do eventually go away on their own, I've even heard of using a banana peel on it daily and that will make them go away. I have NO idea if that works… Lol

Thank you! It most definitely has the cauliflower top. I felt like the bulldog specialist vet was blowing me off, so I'm glad I didn't schedule that "procedure" with them.

I have gotten them from time to time… they are annoying, but not harmful. I can't understand WHY he would want to put a dog thru a procedure for a small wart… now if it get's bigger then obviously something may need to be done.

Bustrr had them and they go away by themselves, IMHO most vets when they see someone with such a beautiful bulldog like Bella they instantly see $$$$$ :yes:

It's a terrible thing, but I think you're right. Jokes on them--I'm broke! :sarcastic::sarcastic:

I actually felt guilty (kinda disloyal) about going to a different vet, but I thought it was best to get the opinion of a specialist. Hmph!

Thank you!!

The procedure would have been to put a small blast of liquid nitrogen,and freeze it off. Then probably would have charged big$(for a 3 cent blast). You could get some wart remover in the drug store and use that. Cali Doll

If she thought it was a wart. She insisted it was a skin tag. She said that Bella would need sedation and stitches for removal.

My vote is that it's a wart. Skin tags are usually smooth and more "hanging" looking.But I am not a Dr. I only play one at home.:w00t:

I agree with you. That's my I'm-not-a-professional opinion. I think the bully specialist is wrong and trying to milk me for cash. Bella's trusted (non-specialist) vet says wart, which I agree with.

It looks like those hyto-thingy.... Will go away in a few weeks on its own if it is. @ bullmama. :D

It's totally a wart. Ruckus had these when he was a puppy and they're gross -- it's a viral thing. Lucky for you Bella only has the one! Ruckus had a bunch. It takes a month or so but they go away on their own. They can also be contagious, so be careful if Bella is playing with puppies, they're more likely to catch them from her.
