SKIN SORES

hello fellow members,

I have a four year old that has had skin issues since he was six months old. He gets sores that are scabby like that make the hair fall out and he is left with hairless patches. I hate constantly putting him on antibiotics and prednisone. Since joining this forum yesterday, I'm already going to switch him from Royal Canin to better food, but any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. I've taken him to multiple docs/allergy specialists. I've been told shots may be the answer.

Welcome to EBN. You can find good information here and truly caring people.
Chance of food can be the only thing that he needs. Just remember that no matter how good quality food is it still may not be the right one. I feed raw food in my opinion it's the best and I iknow a lot of dogs, bullies and other breeds that have gotten better with it.

It sounds like staph . MyAB gets that same time every year end of summer into fall . The beat thing we found is to dry them out with Pyoben shampoo. Welcome to the site

I've heard about feeding dogs raw food. It's supposed to be back to the way dogs ate in the past before all the processed sh**. What specifically do you feed your dog?

It does sound like staph infection which is a result of a weaken immune system.... a better food will help clear the problem but until you get him on a better food and the old food out of his system (few weeks to months)... keep him on the antibiotic... no need for the steroids, it just covers the issue up and does no healing (in my opinion)

Welcome to EBN and you're right to be concerned about the constant merry-go-round of antibiotics, prednisone and now
shots...DON'T DO IT! A good food will make a huge difference but it might take 2-3 months to see positive results. Your
baby's immune system and healthy gut flora is worn done from all this...I'd put him on a Probiotic, google Dr Karen Becker
and put in 'healthy immune system' in her site's window, she's a holistic Vet and gives excellent advice and sells excellent
products w/out cr*p ingredients or weak ingredients, etc. Good luck and please let us know how it goes!
