I’ve read and researched a lot on the so called “Spay/Neuter Coat” and I have to wonder if my boy got it

3.5 year old

April 15 is when he got fixed

The thinning of hair is very symmetrical to both sides of the areas shown, there is hair just very fine very light like puppy hair. I also don’t see an excessive amount of shedding.

None of the following

  • Itching the area
  • Redness
  • Grease/Flakey
  • No clumps
Anyone else notice this on their dogs after getting fixed 3-4 months down the road

Duke and Jake both had vasectomies back when and Duke’s thickness of hair under that area didn’t change but Jake’s did. Went thinner. Basically Vasectomies the dog keeps their hormones going so I’m not sure it’s a hormone issue. Doubt it if one dog’s hair thinned out and not the other. Both were blood brothers. Great question.

There is also a thing called Seasonal alopecia, (sp?) which they lose hair in spots(usually on back or sides .the skin turns black in the areas and no other symptoms. Nothing to be done for that. many times the hair grows back in the areas, sometimes it doesn't.Nothing to be done.
