Walley-Bubba aka Wooley Bulley aka Walter! aka Landi!!
Well, WB went to the vet today for his semi-anual comprehensive exam.
He also got his bordatella shot and anal glands expressed again.
But first, they weighed him and he registered 69 lbs :w00t:.

He's not fat!
It's loose skin!
Denial.

But he is extremely buff .

We've been feeding him 1 cup of Taste of the Wild twice a day.
Lately, he has been a little picky with his food rather than inhaling it.
So we've decided to cut his feeding to once a day in the morning.

He seems a little (a lot) anxious around Ann (she feeds him most of the time since I got sick).
But more than ever, he will do anything for a treat, which is good since he can be quite stubborn.

I'm taking him to South Lake Tahoe on Sunday for 5 days.
Just him and me.
And some grain free TOTW.
And grain free treats :)

Taco is 70lbs, and it's his perfect weight. I always thought he was a tinier bulldog, but he was malnourished when we adopted him.

We went through the same stages about two months ago... Winslow hit 79 pounds?

He IS a big boy, but that defense only goes so far....

My husband had a much harder time coming to terms with it haha, but we have seen his waist shrink back down, and.. Yeah...

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, WB has a waist. Maybe he's at his ideal weight also. Anyway, he seems to be doing fine on only 1 feeding. Less poop to scoop too :)

You need to post some pictures of this great looking boy... some are just built bigger and smaller.

Hope you both have a great little getaway

1 cup

Previously 2 feedings, 1 cup each.

Just my opinion but I cup once a day might be too little.
I feed TOTW and Cami was @69 lbs so I cut her back to
3/4 cup twice a day with 1/2 cup of warmed green beans
in a 1/2 cup warmed water & mixed together. She lost
weight at a steady pace and didn't mind.

I'd worry about him being really empty at night.

He looks great in his pic and only needs to lose a bit, take
him to 65 lbs and perhaps then to 63 lbs, new pics then,
please!

that may be too little, as Carol stated -- try doing 1/2 cup twice a day with some greens beans missed in.. the green beans are a filler and add no calories. I did this with Banks -- she was 70+ at one point and we had to get her down to 60 because of her hips being in bad shape. 65 was a good weight for her, looks wise, but hips wise she needed to be at 60 and the green bean filler worked awesome for her.

Thanks Texas Carol. Especially since we both feed TOTW.

We think the vet is full of it. WB is not fat, just big. The same vet also says both our Yorkies, Shadow and Alice, are too fat at 8-1/2 and 9 lbs respectively. We don't agree! :)

I'm going to feed him 3/4 cup of TOTW twice a day.
Plus he will get to share my cantaloup, plums, water melon, grapes etc and especially navel orange segments which we both relish.

Here are some more representative, recent pictures.

No to the grapes! They can be toxic to dogs.... he can have all the other fruit, but no to grapes and raisins

Thanks everyone for all the help with this issue.
We've learned a few things and Walley Bubba will benefit as will our other doggies.
I didn't know about grapes being toxic to dogs.

I think WB looks great! 1 cup will be too little as I really don't think WB is very overweight. He will love the extra fruit. Mine gobble it up!

ps
about the grapes...
Ann just told me she knew about this and never gives them or raisins to her Yorkies.
Sigh.

:stinkeye: tell her to share that type of info more freely :D
