Bulldog(s) Names
"Bruno", and "Giovanni"
Hello my name is David, i joined in this forum to be able to expand my knowledge on how to provide the best my boy "Bruno". We recently lost his son "Giovanni" on July 5th. and are more committed than ever to give his Dad "Bruno" and his pack members the best of everything possible. Thank you and looking forward to communicate with other members lots of questions on nutrition and heath.

Thank you very much. I guess I'd like to start with food. I'd like to know which dog foods have shown to be the best in meeting the Bulldogs nutritional needs and help in keeping allergies at bay. I know this may be a broad question but I had to start somewhere. Thanks

Best diet for any dog is a Raw Diet and you can also cook for your dog. If neither is possible, high quality kibble with raw liver n organs as a topper.

What to avoid is Royal Canin, Science Hill n Purina.

What Helene saidā€¦
we feed Zignature Pork. Itā€™s the least expensive of the quality foods readily available to us.

Welcome to EBN! Your boy is beautiful!

Yes, raw is the best but if not an option, and you want to stay with kibble. Zingnature or Open Farm are two of the best

Thank you very much. I will check out the kibble you suggested. Any thoughts on Origen kibble?
I used to recommend it but it was bought by , I think Mars , so you have to watch for product/ingredients changes. I think for now it is still a great kibble. Two others that are great .. Zingnature and Open Farm

Orijen has for many years been considered as good a food as any. If Zignature was not available, we would consider it and actually fed it, and Acana, in the past. Orijen and Acana have been bought by Mars, and I don't know if the recipes have been changed or not, but Mars is notorious for manufacturing/selling cheap low quality pet foods. Perhaps Mars will not change anything or maybe they already have.

When feeding raw do you pick specific types of bones or is bone meal a better alternative? I'm asking because of the shape of their jaws and teeth placement. My Pit have no problem I notice "Bruno" my Bulldog has a harder time. Thanks

The raw I buy is from a farmer that makes raw dog food. The ratio of the raw is already balanced out for your dog. If you buy it from pet stores, that too should be balanced out for you. If you want to make it yourself which we had a couple members in here that did/does, basically would follow approx what the % attached ratio says. Yes a bit more work but definitely cheaper if you do it yourself. Also, not everyone has a bone grinder so you can add chicken, duck, or turkey, necks/wings. Tripe is #1 as a probiotic which you can buy simply the patties at the pet store. You can make your own ziplock bags as weekly or monthly portions.

Here in Canada our human food source is 3x the price. I buy mine done cause itā€™s someone I know n plus I buy over 15, 40lb boxes @65$ a box n itā€™s split amongst my other 2 sons dogs. If I didnā€™t have this farmer, I would definitely be doing it myself.

Do not add any grains or veggies.
