The past few months, we have noticed that Monty has really slowed down. He has always been low energy and I could never get him to go for a walk, he would just plant his feet and refuse to budge. Now, it is all we can do to get him to get off his bed to go outside. I don't think he is in pain, no limping etc. He has been on Glucosamine for years. The only time he shows interest is in his food. He turned 9 in June. Any suggestions?

Do you think the change in weather may have something to do with it? You know how hard the cold is on the old bones. My 12 year old lab still has lots of energy but it’s much harder for him to get up and down when it starts cooling off. He takes the cosequin max and it helps a lot. He’s still got the heart but struggles with the go... it’s so hard watching them age... I hope the best for y’all...

Are you still giving melatonin? Could have him sleepy

We took him off everything except the glucosamine a while ago. For his Sundowners, it's just his Thundershirt and cuddles and we are managing quite well!

We always call him the 'hydraulic dog' because he gets up in one smooth motion, no front end first followed by the back end for him! No struggles at all, getting up or down. I really don't think it's the cold as he was like this during all the heat. Maybe I should up the strength of his Glucosamine anyway, can't hurt.

Yes is there any other supplements or meds he’s on? If he’s been like that for 9 years will be hard to change him now. How is he when you bring him out to family visits or on leash dog parks etc? Like change of scenery. If food wakes him up, that was funny btw....go for a car ride n bring bite size treats he like n have him walk n gets a treat, walks, treat etc etc.. No matter what, food is energy. Maybe add a new topper on his meals. What does he eat again?

I’d have a vet check to ensure nothing is going on that you can’t see

Did you try CBD oil?

I have tried two highly recommended CBD oils and nothing.

Some of these guys are SO stubborn... I have a feeling that Walter is going to be like that. I hope you get some answers soon, I agree w/Christine about taking him to the vet.
