So last week the roofers came to replace the roof and the dogs went nuts. So I called the vet and took them there for the day to get a bath and toenail trim (and babysat for the day). Picked Dexter up, everything was fine - he was a little itchy but nothing abnormal after getting a bath. Next day I notice his booty is odd looking and a little raw (from the sit-n-spins) so I called the vet (who I'm friends with) to see if this could have been from the bath. The tech told me that it shouldn't because there is a towel dry only note in his file. So inspection commenced.

It was the TAIL POCKET! I went to clean it (as much as I can...its really tight) with the qtip and this is what came out! It looks like blood has dried on the outside but is still irritated on the inside. I put him in the tub and held a cold rag to his booty to try and soothe the pain or itching (idk which one). Called the vet back and sent her the picture she said to put hydrocortisone on it or neosporin with pain relief. I have a picture of his booty as of last night on here too and you can kind of see where its going on. If he ins't better Friday he's going back to the vet.

Poor baby, that was inside the pocket?? I think the Neosporin will help him.

Hi poor Dexter, I'm sure he'll feel better after you removed that hair from his derrière, I hope it clears up fast and he feels better soon. Why did they not clean his tail pocket when he was groomed at the vets? Is that not part of bathing and grooming a bully?

Agree with Monica. Why was that area not cleaned spotless? Does the vet not deal with many bullies?

Ouch,,, poor baby! Agree with others-- why not cleaned at vet?

That looks painful… I agree w/the others, they should of done that at the groomers!!!

Think I should say something or let it go? I don't feel like it was purposely done and my normal tech wasn't there...

Next time you take him in, I would specifically ask for the tail pocket to be cleaned (remind them)... then if not done, I would say something

Ouch, hope he feels better now.

I bet he will feel so much better now that that is out of there! Good find!
