I just saw on Facebook that somebody's bulldog got rushed into emergency surgery because they had a rawhide lodged in their throat. Rawhides are just not good for our bully's!!!

I saw that too. I hope all turns out okay!

Me too!!! Poor bully, we all know raw hides, pigs ears, bully sticks is a No, No for or bully's!!!

so sad.... hope they are OK! great reminder Kelly!

Bella almost choked to death on one, and by the grace of GOD Ray was home. He was able to get her to swallow the thing, but it scared us to death!!! We will NEVER purchase another one for any of our dogs again...

I, personally, having had different types of dogs, do not believe that they are good for any. They do pose a choking danger for any kind of dog.Though it is even worse for Bullies. I have even had to stick my hand down a large dog's throat-and I never gave rawhide to any after that.

I really wish they would just ban them so no one could ever buy any, then it wouldn't be a problem so people who don't know any better.

Anyone know how that bulldog is doing? I hope he pulls thru okay. I am still amazed at the amount of rawhide products that are available everywhere for dogs. I have friends who routinely give their dog a rawhide treat, insisting they're "safe".

I don't remember who posted it. I've tried to go back through my feed and I cannot find who posted it originally. So I don't know if it was a repost from somebody if it was an old post brought back to the front.

I agree, David--and not just because of the choking hazard. The way the rawhide is processed leaves harmful chemicals in it, making it dangerous for dogs too.
