Well here is the background.

Goob has this bone that he WILL not go to sleep without. It his security blanket and his favorite chew toy. He will search high and low before going to bed. Once he finds it, he will chew for about thirty minutes. Now, there are two problems with this:

1) The bone is getting smaller and smaller ( he breaks off pieces and drops them, he does NOT eat them). I am worried that it is getting too short and he might choke on it.

2) Because he chews for so long before falling asleep, he SOAKS his 2 front paws and they stay wet all night long. I battle his pink paws throughout the day but I know that his nightly chewing keeps his pads pink. He doesn't have a yeast infection but I'm worried that that's where it's headed.

So...last night was tough love. When he was in the other room, I took the bone away and put it out of sight. He was crying for 2 hours last night and would not get in bed because he wanted his bone:(. It was so pathetic and sad. Poor Goob. Well, WE finally fell asleep, not giving in!!! YAY!

On a good note, Goob's pads were NOT pink in the morning and were in great shape. I'm not sure how tonight will be but I'm optimistic.

OMG how totally precious! Can you get him something like a big stuffed animal that he can suckle on? Many bullies do this to help fall asleep Libra926 KMARINO ddnene are three i can think of.....

Orion has a bear that she suckles on every night. At first I was freaking out because they no longer make this bear....since the day she was born she's had this bear. But..I was wrong. As long as she has something to put in her mouth and suckle on, she is fine. She has her stinky bear(s) and a stinky puppy. I'm sure that another bone will be just fine. After a few nights of unhappiness.....things will settle down. We had Orion completely weaned off of stinky bear THEN Santa brought her a new one. I cursed Saint Nick for many nights.
Oh....her paws and her nails were yeasty. We started her on plain Greek Yogurt with each meal and I haven't had a problem with yeasty paws or tear stains since. Good luck!

Photos of Orion just days old with her very first stinky bear....then later with various bears and finally the new addition, Stinky puppy.

The funny thing is he has ropes, a squirrel, and we bought the SAME EXACT bone thinking he would make the switch. If it isn't THAT BONE...its nothing unfortunately:/

He does have a squirrel stuffy that he might switch to one day, I suppose only time will tell...He has never had a yeast infection but his paws were super pink as opposed to his back paws that were a nice skin color (white-ish). I also give him plain greek yogurt but only for breakfast after reading on here that it was good for them. I cant tell you how much great info I've gotten from you all here:).

That is a very precious photo of Goob and his bone! My boys have the exact same one too :) I think bulldogs especially can become very OCD when it comes to certain things like TOYS! Finn absolutely LOVES a particular football that he suckles on all the time and walks around the house with. He even barks at people with the ball in his mouth. He currently has 3 of those balls, for different parts of the house and he's been thru about 5 or 6 of them so far.

Aww poor Goob, but better to throw it out before it gets too small and he swallows or chokes on it. He'll get used to a new bone. He's so cute, and I love his name.

Awwww poor boy, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. Hope he goes to bed OK tonight.

Aww poor Goob!!! Wally likes to suckle on his bed, every time before he falls asleep… Unfortunately for him he has grown out of his bed :( I honestly do NOT know how he's going to handle this, I'm going to try to order a similar bear. We had another bully Bella that would do the same thing to her stuffed animals. She didn't seem to care if we didn't give her the same one either, she would just start sucking on whatever she could find.
