sooo what is this :/

I'm not really sure. At all.

He has had it for about a week. It has a few very small scabby spots some days

I am cleaning it with anti fungal liquid or witch hazel & putting either neosporin or the gel for hotspots on it.

I feel like it hurts him when I clean it
I dap lightly, I don't scrub it or anything.

I haven't seen it ooze or anything like that.

The last picture he was sleeping so I tried to get a decent pic.
He barely opened his eyes wondering why I'm prying his mouth open and head up

Hi, it looks like either an allergy, maybe to food?, or I think it could be an irritation. What type of food bowls do you use? The best bowls to use are stainless steel bowls, and they should be rinsed out after every meal and dried, and washed at least once a day. I always wipe the bowls out in the morning and then wipe it dry with a paper towel, and then after their dinner in the evening I place the bowls in the dishwasher. If you use plastic bowls, they can get cuts or scratches in them that can hold on to bacteria and cause irritations on the chin. It always a good idea as well to wipe and dry the chin and mouth area after eating. A wet or damp chin can also cause irritation and rashes. Another cause of irritation can be tap water, have you tried switching to filtered water? We use a pet water dispenser with a built in filter, or you can use a Brita water filter or other type. I hope it clears up soon. Keep the area clean and dry, and you can try some Polysporin as well.

I do all of that actually :/
Filtered water with vinegar/ stainless steal bowls
Wiping his mouth, the bowls, everything.

He's been on the same food since his breeder, and haven't had any bad reactions.
He will be 8 months on the 27th.

He did get a hot spot on his neck about two weeks ago from the cone he had for surgery.
Wondering if that has anything to do with it.

I'm going to research the polysporin tonight( just because I don't know what it is
And I'll get some tomorrow

If he has had surgery, was he on some medication that can have caused an allergic reaction? Hope he soon gets well!

Looks like puppy acne.... Could it be pimples? If yes, you can use stridex pads

Keep doing what you're doing, it will hopefully clear up in a few days…you can put vaseline on after you treat the area to prevent the water from irritating.

Looks like chin acne. Great advice given above. You can also put some coconut oil on it to help heal as it is anti fungal/microbial.

I have coconut oil so I'll start with that

It looks good right now but that's because he just got up.

yeah coconut oil would be good, and wipe down the chin after drinking and eating. You won' t be able to find polysporin in the states, neosporin is the alternative (polysporin available in Canada OTC)

Yes given his age I would say puppy acne as well. Frank had this for a while, though the pimples weren't as large or red. Murphy's acne does look a bit irritated. I would make sure you are washing out his food bowl frequently, and wiping his chin down after he eats/drink. I also used stridex pads and they seemed to help but honestly my greatest ally was time. They will go away as he gets older and matures

I just looked it up-wasn't sure what it was.
I usually use witch hazel on my face.

yes like stridex pads for acne, I always felt so funny buying them for my dog. It's like he's a hormonal, acne-ridden teenager! haha
