Did they give you anything for pain relief for him?? Poor sweet baby. I know @calibaker has a tail removal under her belt. I think it was Finn? I can't remember, but maybe she can give some advice on how to keep Hugo as comfy as possible. Sending hugs from NY

Poor little Hugo - glad to hear the surgery was successful and that he is home now!

Oh pooooor baby! I am so happy he got this taken care of and he will be so much more comfortable once he's healed up! Stay on top of his pain meds, so he's not in too much pain. He'll be feeling much better within a few days! Hugs from us!

I hope so It's breaking my heart seeing him in pain. The vet has given us metacam to take once a day

oh yes, some very good pain meds are in order for Hugo! Hugo's amputation was much more extensive than Finn's. Finn did require some meds--tramadol and an anti-inflammatory Rimadyl. I would also apply some warm compress to the area very gently, every day.

Nadine27 So glad to hear that Hugo is home and surgery went well! Poor fella' will feel BETTER than a new guy, when he heals up. Such relief without a twisted sore tail. Happy that he is home with you all, and he just wants you to be by his side to reassure him! Poor little fella' has baboon butt! GET WELL SOON, Hugo!:heartsign:

He has the pain med ,antibiotics and a special cream to put on his bottom to. And wipes to clean around the drain. We are not aloud to touch the anything els it's got to heal on its own. I'm having to clean the bottom as he has no feeling in the bottom and can't tell wether he is going to the toilet or not

Ouch! Poor baby! I hope he gets well quickly...I know you will take great care of him :)

That's how bad his tail was

Thank you for posting these pics, graphic as they are.

I had NO idea how badly their tails are kinked and twisted, this
educates so many as to WHY we must relieve their pain and take
away guilt & shame when tail pockets keep being infected.

Poor Hugo and Y'all, so relieved surgery went well and prayers
for speedy healing. Wow! Hugo well feel so fabulous!
