Pork n Pickle
Over the last year, our boy has been struggling with what appears to be allergies. Itching one ear in particular, watery eye(s), licking paws, etc. There has been no change in his environment or food. We feed him farmer's dog beef and turkey recipes (this week switched the turkey to pork, since I've read white meat can be an allergenic). He gets very little in the way of treats besides some random organic cheese or misc. simple (plain) human food.

We've gone to our vet and have tried probiotics, apoquel (upset his stomach), cytopoint shot instead of apoquel (wasn't quite as effective and would wear off after a couple of weeks). We've had his ears flushed and treated a couple times (he has one each that seems to get gunked up) with antibiotics when there was bacteria. This week he has a bit of a yellow crust (yeast?) on his underbelly. He does squat when he pees, so wasn't sure if that could be irritation from urine splashing there but hate seeing him struggle and at a bit of a loss as to what to do next.

Appreciate any help or feedback.

I think I am correct in saying grass can cause allergies, I know Jeffo suffers in the summer months, with sneezing when he is exercised on grass, so in those months we go to the beach. must admit a great deal of allergies are caused by food, and I'm not to sure about pork, for dogs. Maybe another member with more experience of this could be of more help. Although it does seem quite a bad allergy your boy has. Good luck.

Apoquel will destroy your dog’s or any dog gut flora and bring his immune system down. You now need to build back up his gut. Like mentioned it always ends up being a food allergy. You will need to do one protein at a time for a couple weeks and monitor. Then switch to another protein and so on. Btw, turkey has different protein than chicken. It’s safer. My dogs do fine with turkey but all dogs are different. Start over and do the baby steps.

For the belly rash, use NuStock. It will get rid of the inflammation. Not for eyes!

Even though farmers dog is a good food, there might be an ingredient that isn’t agreeing with your baby. Maybe look into the list and see if there is a potential trigger

How about doing an allergy test on him. My family are huge on loving our dogs and my daughter is insisting that I do one for Gunny-sgt. We have somewhat a good idea of what Gunny is allergic to (Chicken), but I need to know exactly what other things he might have an allergic reaction to. If I was you, that would be the route I would go.
