Hey all,

Just wanted to post a note and see what your guys' thoughts on rawhides are. Should I let my 4 month old chew on my other dogs, or should I keep her away from it? Her name is darla and I'll post some pictures up once I figure out how to. Thanks!

Welcome to EBN!

Please please please NO rawhides. Those are horrible, and have actually caused fatality in dogs. Please no rawhides, go with moose or elk antler or maybe a nylabone instead!

Can't wait to see sweet Darla!

:yikes: :hellno:

A lot of dogs ends up in surgery as rawhide cant be digested and forms a ball in the stomach !!!!!

Why dont you get a nice raw marrow bone. Your puppy will never touch a furniture, shoes or anything. Worked on all my dogs! :)

I second the others, no rawhides. We had an American Bulldog that choked on one. It was really frightening but we managed to get it out of her throat (she was food aggresive too so not a good situation). That was the end of rawhides in our house. IMO they should be banned. There is nothing good about them. Our dogs prefer nylabones.

Rawhides bad, antlers good!

:welcome3: to EBN --- as the gang has stated.... back away from the rawhides... bad, bad, bad.

Dr Karen Becker has a real nice video on "recreational" bone chews. I found it real interesting... Unfortunately, "some" of our bully's shouldn't even have antlers :( If they are too aggressive chewers, they can split teeth.. Just throwing it out there.. We have one too, and LOVE it but I now watch him better to see 'how' he's attacking it.

I agree, never rawhides, pig ears, bully sticks, and anything like that. We give Nylabones, (not the eatable ones), Kongs, and Elk Antlers.
