First of all, thank you for the admin for letting me post this query.

I'm looking for any diet that I can give my dog to lose weight.

She's 6 months old and I rehome her yesterday so my 3 years old good boy have finally his playmate.

r/Bulldogs - Bria my adopted baby girl (6 months old)Bria my adopted baby girl (6 months old)
But I noticed that, her body is too big she's having a hard time moving and is too slow. I found a new found appreciation to my boy who is athletic and moves really fast for his size and age.

r/Bulldogs - This is my boy Brody (He moves really fast for a bulldog and I kept his weight and figure like that)This is my boy Brody (He moves really fast for a bulldog and I kept his weight and figure like that)
Any tips so I can make the Bria lose weight within a month? I want her to be slender but not that thin exactly within the range like my Boy so she doesn't feel comfortable moving. I think its for her own good to lose some weight.

So the black and white is Bria, she 6 months old n you want to put her on a diet? You definitely donā€™t put a 6 month old on any diet. You need to remember something, sheā€™s a young pup, you just brought her home, sheā€™s probably confused n simply needs time. Let her adjust to the new home. A 6months old can certainly burn out your Brody in no time. 6 months old they donā€™t really have formed a body yet. Theyā€™re more round n plump which it how they should be. Itā€™s very crucial she gets all her protein, minerals at that age. No diets. Just remember one thing, give her time, sheā€™s new n sheā€™s not handsome Brody.

Questionsā€¦ā€¦.

What is she eating
How many times per day
If kibbles, how many cups per day

Thanks for the answers. The previous owner feeds her raw meat sawdust twice per day. And yes she is so plump and is having hard time moving while my boy is so athletic and fast. I'd consider dieting her. I'm just worried that I'm from a tropical hot country that can cause her heat stroke though we have airconditioner. I met her brothers and mother and they are way bigger than him. They got Brody's height but the stocky body is too bigger than Brody. I'm, seeing Brody's potential if I switch him to a protein rich diet.

Iā€™m not sure what you mean by ā€œRaw meat sawdust?ā€ Do you mean frozen dry raw? The ingredients on the package, is it 100% raw? If so, nothing is wrong with that. A raw diet has one of the highest protein content and it will build more muscles on a dog and less fat. Like @Manydogs mentioned, a photo from above of Bria standing up would be great.

You mentioned you ā€œmet her brothers and mother and they are way bigger than himā€. There are so many type of EB bodies out there. You canā€™t compare to Brody. My white face Jake, his brother, was exact same size, way more energetic, jumping n running non stop 24/7. Like a Jack Russel in a bulldog suit. And yet, Jake is completely the opposite. Laid back, wonā€™t move unless thereā€™s food. I purposely have to push him out the door so he moves. I live on an acreage n seriously have him run or walk up/down a hill. What Iā€™m saying there is no 2 dogs the same.

She eats twice a day, what are the cups or pounds per day she gets? What does it say on the package to feed per day?

Thanks for the insights, I asked the previous owner and he says he feeds her meat sawdust (RAW MEAT minced into small pieces) twice a day, no limit as long as she wants to eat, they give her food, she then eventually go away once full. I attached her picture below with her full body. Apologies for the napkin, she's heating currently heating.

I wouldnā€™t let her eat that much , she is still growing but letting her eat all she wants isnā€™t good. Based on her weight she should get a certain amount of food at each meal.

She is 20 kilos, same weight as my Brody, I'm quite shocked when I learned this earlier.

She IS a little plump even for her age. That said, puppies can carry a little extra weight in most instances. You say it's a tropical climate and since it's warmer, she may benefit from being a little less heavy. Control her food intake. No longer allow free feeding. She should eat twice daily and do your best to dial back to 60-70% of what she has been eating. Watch her waistline and adjust accordingly. Feeding raw meat is fine but she'll need a balanced diet to remain healthy. Look into Raw diet supplements or switch to a premade complete Raw diet.

Thank you would feeding once a day like her portion in the morning be included in night? I had my 3 year old boy eat once per day and his figure, stamina, and speed is superb. A much as I want to feed the baby girl with many food, her weight is insane few movements and she's panting like crazy im afraid of heat stroke. They played earlier, my boy is not even breathing that heavy but she's already panting bad.

Agree with Chip n Christine. You gave us more details n itā€™s much clearer now. Sheā€™s 20Kilo (40lbs) for 6 months old is a bit Chubby. Thatā€™s because she eats till sheā€™s full. At that age she should be eating 2x a day. For her to lose a bit, bring the raw to 454 grams (1 lb) PER day n split it into her 2 portions. Is her raw also includes organs, heart etc? If itā€™s ā€œonlyā€ meat, it needs to have a balance (ratio) of organs, blood, bones, tissues etc. The attachments below will give you an idea what to feed n how much. Donā€™t stress on putting her on a strict diet. She still a pup, go slowly so she doesnā€™t freak out n starts inhaling her food. Once sheā€™s reached her normal weight, you can add 125gr more and see if sheā€™s still stable in her weight. It might take a good week or so. It will give you an idea while sheā€™s still growing what her portions should be. Puppy stage is where they absorb the most for future health. Meaning, they ā€œneedā€ to build their immune system, eat minerals like liver, exercise etc. Why putting her on a diet, needs to be well balanced.

I have little to add to what Helene has stated. We feed 2 times per day(at least) as an empty Bulldog stomach produces bile that is not being used and that can cause stomach upset...and that leads to puking green slime. Two times per day of controlled diet and you and your pups should be good to go!

Helene and Chip nailed itā€¦ follow their advice and your girl will be fit in no time

Thank you so much for this detailed reply. Let me save this thread and study. She only eat raw meat sawdust so far, no heart or liver as suggested by her previous owner. She's super plump and heavy for hear age. Only issue I have is she's eating RAW but my boy of 3 years old is a kibble eater since a pup. Will it be fine at this point to switch his diet to raw? I'm afraid he upset his stomach if I do it all of a sudden. And thanks for the chart provided about dog weight. I can now confirm that my Bria is indeed OBESE, Iwant her on the pet weight range. My Brody is on an athletic side base on his body structure right now. No wonder he moves so fast.
