Wacha is 57lbs at 8 months. I am afraid he is getting heavy. The vet seems to think all is ok. She says he hasn't really grown into his body and pups carry extra weight. What do you guys think?

schimpfy He is real active. Gets about a half mile walk each day if it is not to hot. Eating good fromm food, 2 cups a day, with a small raw bone each day.

sounds about perfect perhaps I need glasses and if your vet is not worried however as the care giver we always worry and hope we are doing our best. What kind of bone I give mine the odd marrow or lamb bone.

He doesn't look that bad, but doesn't have a waist either, so I would watch him so he doesn't add on too much weight. I don't usually worry about weight too much in pups as they can burn it off, just don't want too much weight on. I like seeing a little waist on them.

He looks good to me... Wally is 45lbs and is almost 7mos old.

Jewel was 55 at 8 months. And then the growth spurt was over. Jewel toped at 60 lbs at 1 year. We are trying to get her between 50-55 lbs. Currently Jewel is on injured reserve and does not get much exercise. So shedding those 5 or so pounds is tough.

Agreed, and he's very pretty I love his coloring.

He's built a lot like my Kevin (9 months.. 65lb's give or take).. As long as you are keeping an eye on his weight and keeping him active then your ahead of the game.

I just tell Kevin that he's 'big boned'... As his favorite song says "Its all about that bass, 'bout that bass, no treble" :)

In my opinion it wouldn't hurt him to loose some....it's better for a pup to be slimmer than chubbier.
