Hi everyone,

Pumba is 4 months now and will be going to his 3rd session of puppy class tomorrow! We enjoy going to class, but find that he's gets overexcited. He wants to socialize with every dog and person in the room that he ends up pulling us with the leash.

We try to rein him in as much as possible, but I was wondering if EBN has any good tips to get him to calm down. Or is this just normal puppy behavior that he will grow out of?

Kind of sounds like a regular bulldog pup to me :)

Totally normal. What our trainer had us do when Harlea would start pulling is to stop, say no pull and pull her back to us and not start moving until she relaxed. It took a few weeks but she eventually got the hint.

That's a bully for ya, :) Marine91 gave some great advice, just be patient and he will get there.

Definitely! We really like the socializing (both with people and dogs) aspect of it since he's our first dog-son. We want to be able to have him go run around in the dog park in the near future. Pumba definitely has been teaching me a lot about patience...but I can't stay mad at a face like this

gang has you covered.... enjoy the class!

Oh my goodness… you got great advice, and let me tell you Walter (who is almost 8 mos old) is doing the SAME EXACT THING!!! In fact, his favorite part of class is the off-leash social time… LOL :w00t:
