Need Gardening HELP Please

Your garden pics are gorgeous... my garden didn't fare SO well this year. My tomatoes in a bag were a disaster, I got 2 tomatoes that basically rotted on the vine... I don't think this bag system is such a great idea. I need some nice wood planters or something... not plastic.

Did they rot from the bottom? I am treating mine now with Stop Rot.

Odd plant... ok I’ll buy it.....I’ll pay shipping n all!!

BTW Is that a calla Lilly she’s standing by? ā€œIFā€ so careful she doesn’t eat that. Ingestion of lilies can cause gastrointestinal upset, depression, anorexia and tremors. :(

That dog can give Colgate a run for its money. You got some expert bulldog grooming skills there, buddy.

No, they are still growing but all green (well, one is showing some colour). They are very big but there are not many of them. We are so looking forward to seeing them ripen and I have already promised my brother and father some seeds from the tomatoes (well, my parents actually got one of the plants, and of course they have lots of tomatoes on it - my dad is the expert).

Dad has the green thumb! What is it he did differently? Take some notes lol
Glad they are growing... :)

So I got in trouble yesterday.

I'm experimenting on a square-foot garden this year and I planted a cute icebox watermelon plant on the corner of the box. I know watermelon is not a small plant by any measure but somebody planted an icebox watermelon in her square-foot garden on youtube, so I figured, why not? We finally got a cute little watermelon fruit growing but the vines were climbing over my black krim tomatoes so I trimmed it....

.... and didn't realize that the vine I trimmed actually wound a few feet wide and was the exact same vine that held up the one and only watermelon fruit! I didn't notice it until the fruit fell off the dying vine. Waaaaa.

Anyway, my husband and son were so upset they're contemplating putting me on a rocking chair beside the garden and banning me from caring for it. Hah hah. But yeah, I was as upset as they were. There are just times when I do such idiot things.

anatess. I’ve never grown watermelon but did this year. Not going to work living in a colder province. But I did learn from my errors. One I needed to cut off the trailing vines as it sucks up the energy for the other little mellows trying to grow n need to start them early in my growing tent so come May, they’re a good foot long.

Yes. yes.
Be careful cutting the vines though, especially if you haven't trimmed it in a while... the vines are tricky... they criss-cross and one vine might look like it's going one way and it actually is the same vine where the nice fruit is hanging from!

Look! Finally starting to look like tomatoes, and they are really big! I was a little worried that there were so few of them, but one of these will make a good-sized tomato sallad!
