looking for a quailty breeder in OK please advise

i have been researching bulldogs... i have seen some bulldog puppies for sale off the highway by the casino, however i wasn't sure about the ladies selling the puppies... how do i know they are quality breeders? and how do i know if the puppy is healthy? i want to be smart about my choice in a puppy...anyone have sound advice? or know of a quality breeder in OK that i could contact?? i see hundreds of english bulldog puppies for sale... and of course all puppies are cute.. i just don't want to buy a puppy that isn't well or from a puppy mill....this is a very important decision for our family..we want to make sure we do it right

I'm not breeder expert but if she's selling them off the highway next to a casino I doubt she's a quality breeder, just my opinion. I'm assuming you're in NV or NM if there's casinos? I did a lot of research when i was selecting my breeder, it was tough. I was lucky to get a local reference too, my breeder was in KS. The two breeders I was down too ranged from $1600 to $2300. I ended up going with the $1600 due to the reference only. I could give you her name if you like. My Wilson is as healthy as they come and I would buy from her again. They have some cuties right now too. Good luck.

I also am getting a new puppy from KS, probably the same breeder as the above post. She posts updated videos of the pups every week or so, so you can see them playing. He is comming to his new home in a few weeks. So far my experiance with her has been great. I can message you the web site if you like.

You got some good advice. I would say that if they are selling off the side of a highway...don't go there. Likely they are a puppy mill or breeding ONLY for money and not caring about the health or temperament of the puppies. I would be VERY careful and look for people that will allow you to visit the puppies, meet at least the mother, willing to give references, etc. I typically look for someone that shows their bullies but that doesn't always mean a healthy puppy either. Some breeders do genetic testing and that is a clue to the care they put into their dogs. That also doesn't guarantee health but it shows that they are taking it a step further.

At any rate, you should read the puppy buying tips (link given by previous poster) and maybe consider a rescue. Good luck!

wow! i am so grateful for your response... i didn't think anyone would really take time to respond to my inquiry ...the casino was just before the texas border...there were 2 ladies selling puppies...of all types... both had english and french bulldogs... they were 1500 + ... however i was surprised by the location... i asked for pics of the parents.. website info...location of their facility etc... neither one had any info for me... so we moved on... i have been researching puppies and rescue... i am leaning towards a puppy...i would like to raise an english bulldog and maybe some day in the future rescue one (?) i am not interested in breeding dogs... so would that require a different search? and i would like a female... i have been reading everything i can find online lol i did read all the puppy buying tips etc... very informative...the main thing is we want to buy from a quality caring breeder... and i don't know anyone locally that owns a bulldog to ask... you bought yours from ks? i did find several in ok, i just don't know anything about them... i would be interested in talking to your breeder... or checking out their website if they have one... again... thanks for the quick reply and advice i really appreciate it!

basically i have been online non stop reading and checking out websites... there is soooo much info... it is overwhelming and some what confusing... many many differing opinions regarding bulldogs lol.... we went to kennel today by accident.. it was pitiful.. or in my opinion it was... the dogs were all dirty looking and too many in each fenced in area... lady said she met all the required standards blah blah blah... no bulldogs... she said they had too many problems so she doesn't breed them... i called several others... most no answer or they wouldn't let me visit their kennel... gave long explanations why etc... so today was a bust! i had no idea it would be so difficult to find a quality bulldog??? geeeeze ... however i will continue my search... oh and i called a local vet... they didn't have a bulldog breeder they could recommend... i did call a bulldog referral peep for oklahoma... but no answer.. so i left a message... if anyone has suggestions for oklahoma or a breeder close to oklahoma feel free to tell me lol... i don't mind driving to look at a kennel... thanks again for all the great advice and encouragement
