Hello all,

I posted awhile back about an issue that Lincoln was having with his skin. I went through a couple antibiotic treatments and countless medicated baths with no real significant improvement. He has suffered from these really strange crusty/scaly bumps on his skin ever since he was about a year old (he is almost 3 now). My vet was never really sure what it was, they believed it was a type of staph infection, but he never really responded to any antibiotics (even after an 8 week treatment). The next step was to see a specialist if it got any worse. Since the scaly bumps on his skin never really bothered him, I just left it as is and started to try different diets and supplements. When it was at it's worst (see pics below), he was eating Kirkland brand food, and now for the past year and a half or so, I've switched him over to Zignature line of food and also started adding salmon oil and probiotic powder to his food and it has certainly helped! I also give him medicated baths every couple weeks (from 2-3x a week originally) using chlorhexidine shampoo. At first I thought it might be a specific food allergy, but he seems to do just fine on any protein type with Zignature (right now it's lamb, the seafood blend tends to give him loose stools). He still has some of these spots for sure, so we aren't out of it yet, but it has come a LONG way, and the best part about it is I didn't have to put him through any long duration antibiotics or other meds (which I didn't want to do).

To this day we still aren't quite sure what these spots are, but they don't bother him (they bother me more to be honest!) and I am hoping if I stick to the current diet regime, it will continue to improve. They were not kidding about how slow the process it with these skin issues to improve!

Holycowabunga that’s a major improvement!!! I recall last year Duke started to have the same thing. It started right under is collar and in the sun you could see little tiny patches elsewhere flaking off. After reading tons of posts in here n the photos, I immediately put him on raw. That issue stopped a weekish later. I could see the fur growing back n all.

From my experience in my Tank it was fish oil that made the biggest difference! Great job you did!

Fantastic news...he looks great!

Logan’s having the same thing...dry flaky skin and hair loss due cause of it...he’s been Zignature Salmon..to catfish to whitefish to Trout & Salmon. It was good before then just this month...I noticed the dry flaky skin...he’s been battling allergies too so I might have to try to switch a different brand again :(
