So Dexter is getting the snip snip on Thursday any advice for before or after surgery?!

thanks! Fingers crossed he calms down a bit!

megan and nervous dexter lol

Eek! Dexter's not a baby anymore … they grow up way too fast. :( lol. I'll tag a couple of mods who have experience to let you know what they've done. 2BullyMama

He will be back to normal within hours of being home... keep him as calm as you can and a light meal when he gets home.

I will hold a moment of silence for the loss of Dexters boys tomorrow. :)

I guess you know-no food or water after midnight. Best to you and Dexter!

Good luck keeping him calm, if he's anything like my Tucker it was really hard. The vet said for 14 days( he had surgery to find his testies) keep him calm..... Hahaha good one mr vet!!

Mayhem just slept a lot for several hours afterward, then acted quite normal :)

Rub Polysporin on the stitches to help it heal faster. That's what we did as recommended by the Vet. Good luck.

Hi, wishing you well and sending love, hugs and prayers that Dexters surgery goes well. We had Dozer neutered when he was 7 months old, and he did really well. I'm sure Dexter will be fine, and his recovery will be quick and easy. You have already been given great advice, no food or water after dinner the night before his surgery, a light meal on the first night after his surgery to make sure he doesn't vomit. He will be on pain medications for the first 4 to 5 days after his surgery, and they do bounce back pretty quick. The hardest thing is to try and keep him quiet and not to let him jump or run for a week after his surgery. Good luck. Lol. He will have a follow up appointment with the vet a week after his surgery to have his stitches removed, and to check the surgery site to make sure it's healing properly. Please keep us posted how he is after his surgery is over.

Good luck, we had Bazza neutered around 18mths old, he took 3 days to start getting back to normal, but it may have taken longer as he was abit older. Then I was stressing because he was jumping on things and doing things he shouldn't, but what can you do.
Lets us know how it goes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
