VEGAS and REBEL
For the last 6-7 weeks Vegas has been doing wonderful with his allergies, I switched his protein to Grain Free Lamb and his face is looking so good. This morning all was fine, he was acting normal, tonight after work I get home and I see him licking himself non-top on his inner thigh. I took a look and this is what I found !!!

Any Ideas what this is? Of course I will be making yet another Vet appt. in the morning, for toight I washed it real good with antibacterial soap, and rubbed some over the counter cortisone cream on it. I hope it wont hurt him if he licks it off. I am keeping him entertained. Thank You for your help!! Oh and I gave him a Benadryl just because.

Does it look like hives? Vegas has never had hives??

looks like it could be bites.... fire ants?? sand fleas?? is it looking any better since you put the ointment on it?

HOLY CRAP..... yes, hives to me.... is it only on the under-carriage?

LariP, our back yard is FULL of fire ants of course living here in FL. we have them bad, but we have lived here over a year and I have never noticed anything like this before!!! It looks the same since I washed and put cream on, I think more red since I irratated it when cleaning it. 2BullyMama, yes this is the only place on his body, I checked his whole body out.

Looks almost like ant bites. Do you have any type of Benedryl cream for something like that?

Since its localized I'm betting on the ants. You've done what you should to keep him comfortable, good job mama

I doubt very much it's the food Kelly ... not to just suddenly come on like that and in only one spot. I don't have a lot of experience with ant bites etc so I"d go with a lot of the others say. It sure looks like some kind of contact allergy to me .. either he's laid somewhere or bitten!

If so, I'm assuming the benadryl you gave him should be making the hives go down a bit!

Poor sweet Vegas ...

I looks like folliculitis unless he has fleas. Folliculitis comes from allergies or immune deficiency . Does Vegas have Enzymes in his diet? or vitamins/ probiotics?

Sherry Vegas does not have fleas and thankfully never has! (knock on wood) yes he takes vitamins, I am starting to think it is from fire ants, we have so many in the backyard. He was fine when I got home and within 2 hours this happened, since I cleaned, put cream on, and gave him a benadryl he is chilling out now, not OCD licking.

Oh Sherry, kind of does look like that! But just in a specific area, not all over about the size of a coffee cup area.

Fire Ant's yikes.......... well it's a good thing if it came on that quick, it can go away that quick too. :2thumbs:
we've never had fleas here either, knock wood too

yes im thinking that is not from the food. something he came in contact with. you have done what you can so just watch it.

DAMN bugs!!!
