I was trolling the threads to see if ms Porkys entropion is bad enough to have surgery n well :'( I found Winston's thread n now I'm crying as I type this so excuse spelling mistakes plz!! Well about a year ago porky poked herself in the eye with a twig........at the vet they cleaned it out well n gave me a bunch of meds n a cone in case she rubbed it....it healed well after 6 weeks......then ever since she's had periodic episodes of swelling just randomly waking up in the morning n her eye is so swollen she can barely open it n it's all gunky!! Her steroid med works almost instantly so she's back to normal quick but it's freaky!! I've had her at the vets at least 6 times due to her eye.......they say she does have very mild entropion but it's nothing they would even consider surgery for n that the swelling is allergy related but flares in that eye worse due to the past trauma does this sound legit???? Btw I'm a recliner lol

Sounds feasible.... You can ask to have the few lashes that bother her plucked to help when the allergies flare up

Yes it sounds possible, for sure. You can get drops to put in her eyes in the morning and right before bed, I use Systaine drops (not sure if that is spelled right), they work best out of all I have tried. You can get them at Walgreens or any drug store. I like them because they are a bit thicker of drops so they last longer.

Yep, I agree with the others, plus I would have the few lashes that bother him plucked.

Great advice above!!!

Vegas just got a shot this morning of steroids, because of his environmental allergies, both eyes were goopy and swollen almost shut. Steroids will clear him right up.

She had 2 removed from her left eye the last time we went to the vets n he said that was all he saw :) im just a paranoid bully mom her vets r by no means veterinary ophthalmologists buttttt if other ppl agree that's what it sounds like I will rest assured that's prolly what it is :)!! She has a steroid eye ointment since it is only once in a while that it gets bad they figure they'd go that route rather than a shot!! Thank u all very much for ur responses I was contemplating driving 6 hrs to see a specialist lol

Are those the antihistamine eye drops? I need to grab some for Brie as she is still tearing up here n there...hopefully due to allergies n not the dystichia again. The vet said something that started w a Z that was OTC. Just can't remember...lol

Zaditor it is prolly the absolute best eye drop ever I have contacts n seasonal allergies so I ripped a lot of contacts due to itchy eyes it's the only thing that works for me :)

porkysmamma I think that is the name of what my vet recommended! Thank you! :)

A lot of eye clinic independent get samples of systane monthly and are more then willing to give them out :) we generally give them to people post cataract surgery and they do help with allergies :)

Make sure there isn't an ulcer when you are applying the steroid eye drop. They can happen quickly...the ulcers, just from the eyelashes. IF there is an ulcer....applying a steroid drop to the eye will exacerbate it. Orion has 1 eye lash that caused an ulcer. We went to one clinic and got a clean bill of health...the next day I went to another and they said she did indeed have an eye ulcer. Clinic one prescribed Neo/poly/dex...... Clinic 2 immediately took her off it and put her on Neo/poly/gent.
