So roger comes home tonight n asks "do we still want another eb puppy" ummm duhhhhhhhhhhh who wouldn't lol so excitedly I'm like "yes" but we really can't afford it!!!! So he proceeds to tell me a lady in our town has a litter she's selling $800 for males $1200 for females I instantly say no freaking way like hell no I refuse to buy a bully from a mall or a backyard breeder!!! Is it wrong to assume they r poorly bred based on price??? I did call the lady n asked a ton of questions I wanted blood lines photos genetic tests well she beat around the bush wouldn't answer any of my questions n said there wasn't a test available to determine breed!!! Hmmmmm fishy right??? I'm not trying to be mean but I assumed our breeder was bad based on the issues porky had until I contacted her n disclosed everything n then she yelled at me lol!!! She said when those kinds of things start happening it's time to retire the mom n she would have retired Porkys mom after 2 litters not 3 :/!!! Anyways I digressed but being porky was from a reputable breeder n cost $2500 n still had problems I can imagine what those poor babies have going on!!! Vent over

Wow, if she wont answer the questions basically means two things... she either don't know or don't care We were super clueless when we bought our first bulldogs, Boeboe and Bennie. They're both from a Junk mail ad Please don't hate me Boeboe has had lots, I mean LOTS of problems... Entropion, Hip Dysplasia and hormonal problems Bennie on the other hand has had no issues what so ever... none. He gets a runny tummy if he eats lamb meat but that is it. But this breeder should be able to answer you about blood line at least, she must know the mother and the father of the puppies

I hear you. We're in the same boat. We also paid 2000€ for our boy, done alot of research (his dad was national bulldog of the year twice), we even went to another country to get Bifi. Healthwise he is not perfect. I suspect he has Hip Dysplasia and a slightly elongated Palate (his breeder even told me to save my money and stop going to vets, that he is just too young and that he was just experiencing growing pains. she just doesn't want to honor our contract). He is now limping at his front right leg (we're going to the vet tomorrow).

You're right to be weary and cautious. Just by the gender pricing is already a red flag. Health issues happens even to the best breeders so i would be reacting exactly the way you did.

With Lilly it was Colins choice of breeder -£2,800 later shes with us .Im not surprised you dont want a backyard breeder pup , poor babies tho it makes you wonder in what kind of hands they will go and if later in life they wont suffer from health conditions or end up in a shelter ;-(
some of you know the score with her and even tho she had an accident with Shy -health wise is all clear

SMH... When I was searching if the breeder wouldn't or couldn't answer my questions I dropped them from my list and moved on. I felt bad for the pups but I couldn't bring myself to contribute to the ongoing problem of bad breeding and puppy mills. Heck just the other day as I was rolling my wife around our local flea market we came upon 2 bully pups that they were asking $2000 each for them. Just looking at them my heart broke as one of them had obvious hip issues as it was under weight and you could see the bones easily and the other one was so red from allergies he had to be very uncomfortable. I almost bought them both just to get them out of there but again i couldn't contribute and reward the problem. i feel i did pretty good with Harlea and her breeder. Is she perfect? Heck no but I know what her issues are and how to manage them and I wouldn't give her up for the world.

I have to agree with everyone else if she wont answer questions run the other way. Most good breeders are very selective and we ask just as many questions as the new parents do lol. I always tell my new perspective parent to make a list of any questions they may have and they always go home with all my phone numbers and the numbers of the breeders I got the pups mom and dad from not to mention the vet I use (bulldog specialist) and his emergency numbers. Not every breeder is perfect and we don't know everything but if there is something wrong with one of my pups after it leaves my home I want to know about it so I can help the parents get the best care for there puppy.

Yeah I agree with everyone else ii got my boy cheap .... 750 and so far so good on his health but he is still a baby and I don't know what is ahead but I know now what I could be facing and the breeder I got him from does not care I have tried to update them and I heard nothing ....

I agree about the qualify of the breeder but whats going to happen to those puppies if nobody wants them? They need a home as much as the $3000 dog too. I know there is a ton of risks but they r alive and need love too. Just a thought!
