Hubby found a lump on Gator tonight. It is on his tummy on his right side, about 2 inches from his front leg. It is hard and seems perfectly round and about 1/2 the size of a golf ball. I think it is pretty new because I give him a massage 1 to 2 times a day and I probably would have felt it.

Now what?

It does not bother him at all. I can't seem to tell if it moves or if it is just his skin moving around. Oh, and it is about 4 inches down (on the side of his belly) and not 2 inches.

You mean see if it is just kind of floating in there or if it is attached to anything?

Ok, I can feel that it is like a little ball, but I don't think you can move it. He didn't care one bit that I was just pinching him (sort of). He kept on snoring.

I like to get lumps on the inside checked out, that's just me. I get suspicious

Thank you Sherry. I plan to take him in but I am trying not to freak out. Dave asked me to wait for a week and a half because we just paid a HUGE bill for his back issues and I just need to know if I should panic or not.

My poor boy just can't get a break.

Oh, and it is UNDER the skin and the skin moves freely over it. I really can't tell if the lump itself moves around or not because when I try to move it, his skin slips over the top of it, kwim?

I would take him too...but don't freak out! We've had hundreds of lumps on mny dogs..and never was one malignant. I'm with Sherry..they will probably aspirate it and my vet can tell immediately if it's fatty or needs more attention. Poor Gator!

No, we don't freak out. Freaking out isn't good for anybody. Relax, wait like your husband said, I sure hubby won't let it go if it grows in that short time. You know it's there now, and that's good.

Thanks guys. I am not sure that is a fatty cyst because Lucy has those and they are squishy. This one isn't.

I freak out ESPECIALLY when it comes to him. He is my babycakes. I am going to take some deep breaths now.

I'm sure you googled it already, but I found a site ...skin growth, lump, swelling or mass in dogs ...and I think it had good information. I'm sure it's nothing, but for your sanity's sake it's better to have the vet check it. I know I would loose sleep.

Not much to add sine you already got help but poor baby Gator. :( I know if it moves freely it is safe, not moving freely doesnt mean it isnt safe but def should be looked at.

Oh no...if its not one thing it's another  actually no a simple  is not enough
